Same here. I missed out on a lot of smaller films this year, from Moon to the Hurt Locker.

Just an amazing film. I just recommend it very very highly. Sam Rockwell is just superb in it. To me *since they are not lobbying it, it probably won't* but that is a film that rightfully belongs up there with Best Picture and Best Actor.

It sucks films like The Hurt Locker and Precious get noticed but not Moon.

I mean, I love THL and would be all for a best picture/best actor win (Jeremy Renner) but THL and Moon are both independent films, aren't they?

I went with Star Trek. District 9 was the better movie, but I have a hard time classifying it strictly as a sci-fi film, whereas Trek is classic sci-fi at it's best.

4-6 might change their order. While I gave Avatar 3/5 and Terminator 2½/5, I still think I might have enjoyed T4 more. Post-apo > rainforest. I gave The Road 3/5 also, but I need to see it again before my final verdict; it might drop to 2 or rise to 4.

Haven't seen G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Pandorum, Splice, Surrogates or Gamer yet.

Avatar is supposed to be the cinema changing event of all time...but frankly it's at best the 4th best sci fi movie of the year, let alone best overall movie. I tend to doubt that any of the better films (Moon, D9, Star Trek) will be nominated for the big Oscars though.

District 9 and Moon there just isnt much between them, both great, great movies, though D9 is slightly better for me, but I wont be voting until I see Avatar.

DVD Jan 12th (at least that's what it says on Netflix).

It's been out on DVD in the UK for a couple of weeks now.
