The Critics' Reviews of Spider-Man 3 Thread

Damn what happened to the tomatometer?

87% last time I looked - now it's down to 68%! :cmad:

Rotten Tomatoes hasn't put all the good reviews up, and plus the movie hasn't offically come out yet... it'll take some time but the number will go up! Plus look at the fans percentage it's at 86% so what does that tell you. And if the movie was so horrible it would have been getting all rotten reviews from the get go. Who gives a crap ,what other people who I can't even see think! It doesn't matter, you go in expecting it to have no flaws and half of the people look for the flaws too! It's insane, and if you beleive other people and care what they think it's on you. Me I loved Spiderman 1 and 2 and I'll love three its as simple as that. Forget the meter it will go up!

they should have not included sandman, to many villians running around can be a bad thing (batman forever, batman and robin, x-men 3)

i remember for a couple of hours on the tomatometer x-men 3 was in the high 90's, i was all excited with glee....then came the bad reviews...and my glee turned to gloop.....

Is it me? Or do you Mr. 7000 like to here bad or negative reviews...Cause it seems like when someone says oh this was bad...you go off into your oh this was medicore....and tons of others things that some people "me" don't agree with. Not bashing on you but, why are you here? And also what do you think you could do that Raimi and crew hasn't tried because you seem to have all the answers...

You know, 20 pages ago, I would have said they were trying to present a fair view by taking in the positive and negative reviews, but after 20 pages of hearing how "mediocre" the first two films were, I'd have to agree they're just against the movie no matter how good anyone else thinks it is.

That's fine, and that's their opinion, but we've heard how much they hate the Spider-man franchise for just about the entire thread...this one, and the rate & review thread.

We get it. You hate the Spider-Man movies. Repair broken record. The movie will be well-recieved by fans, and it WILL make more money than Pirates...end of story.

Totally agree! It will please audiences and fans! That meter will go up and if it doesn't forget them. It will go up look at the positive reviews compared to the negatives! They outnumber them and by monday will get more positive reviews!

Well, the movie is at 68% now at Rotten Tomatoes and I must say I am pretty surprised. Sure, there are a ton of reviews still to come in so who knows where it will ultimately end up. But boy, some of those negative reviews have been harsh, not really expected for these almost critic proof Spider-Man movies. I'm sure I will still really like the film but I was never too crazy about the idea of 2 and 1/2 villains and it looks like there are quite a number of people who seem to think this idea didn't turn out well. I had a feeling Spider-Man 2 would be extremely difficult to top and it looks like this may turn out to be the case. Anyway, at the end of the day, I'm pretty sure this will turn to be a damn good trilogy, IMO.

Btw, with all the bashing Superman Returns gets, how funny would it be if it ended up with a higher rating on RT than Spider-Man 3(SR is at 77%). I know a lot of people will just say, "well, who the F cares what critics think", and that's fair, but I know deep down inside it will definitely irritate a good number of people. :woot::ninja: Anyway, I'm just messing around, I hope the best for Spider-Man 3 and I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm surprised this film is getting kicked around a bit by critics - could Raimi have gone too far by having 3 villains and another love interest this time around?

Well if Owen Glieberman from EW gave it a B- then it's probably pretty good cause he hates all comic book movies.

It's funny how the people who had the novel were convinced that this movie even with all the new characters would never be overstuffed...*sighs*good times

AICN has a new review up from one of their regulars (Massawyrm I think) and besides the dance number it sounds like he dug it. But he thinks the dance scene pretty much ruins the movie.

And so far I've only heard from two others who have stated they read the novel and loved it- and guess what, they said the film was just as good as the novel or even BETTER!

Wow, yeah- wayto hit no point at all X.

It's all subjective.

The thing is, though, there are certain things in the novel (like the greater focus on Sandman's family and their ending at the construction site) that seem to be missing from the film. What I've heard from the film regarding his character doesn't sound nearly as appealing or meaty.

Who's talking about not liking it?

Re-read before you reply to any statement. I was referring to the amount of new characters and how the film has become overstuffed, something almost every critic has mentioned. So frankly I think I hit that point pretty accurately, thank you. :o

i read the novel and loved it! i havent seen the movie yet but i'm sure it will be just as good.

Ghost X, you haven't hit any point dude.... unless you're ignorant- you have some critics stating it and some critics not stating it... you've got some critics stating overstuffed while you've got others stating "lots of plots, but miraculously Raimi makes it work." Lol, dude- overstuffed is not mentioned by all critics....

As I said- subjective, all up to the person watching.

And CM, originally bothered by that ending change- but knowing that Raimi and crew went over that scene FIVE TIMES to get what they consider to be their PERFECT version- I'm fine with it... as long as they think they have found a better ending than what they originally had. Time went into crafting it and finding the best ending for the character, and they agreed that the film's is the best. Heck, Church- in a way- said he wanted the audience to only see the ending they ended up going with...

Ignorance is one of my many perks, but denial is clearly yours if your disregarding the large majority who have mentioned Raimi incorporating too much plot.

Read what you posted wrong... thought you said that ALL critics complained about that. Whereas, you did say - most-
