Everything is timeless about it in my opinion, the movie itself have distinctive 90s feel, but his look is timeless, if he was walking with this hair today you would've thought it's weird? Or maybe his makeup which influenced many modern similar characters isn't timeless? Black coat?
Because you grew up with it, but absolutely nothing about it is timeless. It's a time capsule of the early 90s.
 
I didn't grew up with it, I watched for the first in 2010, maybe.

Seriously, nothing about his look is outdated, it's simple, it's classic.

If they wanted to use mullet, they should base it on this bad boy, it looks exactly like Eric's.

except everything about it is taken from 80s and 90s goth culture. It's not timeless. It literally speaks to very specific point in time.

We're still here 30 years later talking about Brandon Lee's version for a reason. It's classic.
When did I say it wasn't a classic? Being timeless is irrelevant to being a classic. Everything is of its time, that isn't a bad thing. The Crow is deeply rooted in 90s goth culture and aesthetics, it is aggressively 90s on every level, that isn't a slander against it - it's actually part of why it's cool. Timelessness is a silly, irrelevant notion.
 
The original film still holds up remarkably well 30 years later. It feels rather timeless.
Because it's a well made movie. The debate is whether or not The Crow's aesthetics are timeless and they're not. They're very much a product of their time just like what we've seem here. It's contemporary alternative. The original film was contemporary alternative for its time as well.
 
I’m trying to keep an open mind but that nipple tattoo told me all I needed to know.
 
Not gonna lie, that’s like the one tattoo I genuinely like. It’s hilarious to me.

I had low expectations for this one, so it's really something else to underdeliver on that.

Edit just to add further as I can see it being debated - I fully expected a modern day slant and for Bill to make this his own, that is fine. To me, however, what they actually came up with couldn't have been more boring and by the numbers had they tried. As in I'm shocked at the pure lack of effort and creativity. I don't think anybody expected Lee 2.0 or a 30 year old film to be replicated.

It still feels timeless. Like I recently re-watched the movie and it doesn't even feel dated. In fact it puts many movies that are released today to shame.
 
If the aesthetic of The Crow aren't timeless, then what is? Sin City also look outdated? All these looks are classic, because we're talking about classic haircuts, long hair, black suits, simple makeup, black coats, not mullet with short bangs and tattoos all over the body and face.

The Crow movie could like the same in 80s, 90s, 2000s and even now, which was the plan before Sanders was hired.
 
I don’t really know what to tell you. It’s a 90s movie that looks like a 90s movie. If I saw it for the first time today, I’d know it was shot in the 90s. It’s not an insult. It’s just an observation.

I’ll have to see this film to determine if it’ll hold up for me.

Because modern films are bloated dog ****. That's not exactly a high bar. Robocop also puts modern films to shame and its also far from timeless. I had almost the reverse experience when I watched it. I was taken back to the early 90s with it and was reminded why my 10 year old self was in love with it. It's a nostalgia trip, but far from timeless in its aesthetics. I'm still waiting for a trailer before I make my final judgment but the amount "old man yells at clouds" energy coming from the discourse around the movie is hilarious. If the movie is good, what he looks like won't really matter.

You're entitled to your opinion but I beg to differ. I think they are timeless because you still see many films today copying them or being influenced by them and marching to their beat. Meaning what they did back in the 1980s or 1990s still works or is influencing filmmakers today. So I'd argue that they are timeless and not dated from those respects.
