The DC Backup Features: Good move or *****?

Crap. More price increases. Luckily these are two series I can skip.

I'll probably pick up Streets of Gotham, at least. I still haven't decided on Detective Comics.

Even though I have surprisingly enjoyed Montoya in both 52 and FC, I am not paying 4 bucks for Batwoman. Given the choice, I would still rather have Vic. Although, given the choice, I am finally able to say that Ted's death was worth having Jamie around, though there is always room for both.

Given the choice, everything with the Blue Beetles would've played out the same, only Ted would've been able to stay in Booster Gold's comic instead of causing some stupid paradox that ruined the future.

Manhunter and Question back-ups written by Andreyko and Rucka are perfect for Streets of Gotham and Detective Comics. So far, I say these back-ups are a good move with the exception of Ravenger.

I think this is a good move. If you really like these titles, you'll keep buying them. The extra content doesn't take page space from the stories you were already reading, and you just might like it, and decide to shop around for other related products. If you weren't already buying them, then this might pique your curiosity, and then maybe you'll get hooked on something...who knows? I don't like price increases any more than anyone else, but if the quality is good, then I think I can afford to tack on another dollar or two to my monthly comics bill. Hell, I have a couple of titles on my pull that are over $3.00 and I look at them every month, asking myself if I really need them. And, the answer is "yes!"

So the good news: Blue Beetle getting solo stories once again.

The bad news: DC still trying to fit the square peg of Ravager into the round hole of fan's tastes. I don't understand the fascination with this character. Terror Titans doesn't sell well. Teen Titans numbers drop when she's on the team. There is zero fan following that I know of.

The price of Booster Gold and Teen Titans is increasing.

DC trying to force a relationship between Booster and Jaime. I don't see the connection. Jaime is not Ted. He does not time travel and never served on the League with Booster. Maybe I am wrong here. Although I am happy to see Beetle get any sort of solo project, why not give him a leadership role in the Titans?

Your thoughts friends?

Dan ***** said TT's sales go up every time Ravager is on the cover.

Makes sense. The general public seems to love everything that's s***.

It's fine by me. BOOSTER GOLD is the only DC book I read now. I liked BLUE BEETLE and hated losing it. Now I'll get both, and that's worth an extra buck. :D

How does it suck for him if he's happy with the change?

Black Canary and Captain Atom are getting backup features according to the New York Times.

But... Black Canary has a book. Sorta. I mean, her name's in the title, but she's kind of a supporting character.

If the right writer were on board (Gail Simone), Black Canary would be a main character like the book's title implies.

Giving her a backup sounds pointless. The Metal Men, Blue Beetle, Question, Manhunter, and Captain Atom backups are great moves and go perfectly with the books their attached to. But Ravenger and Black Canary are needless and unnecessary when there are more interesting characters or in the case of Black Canary, already has her own book.

I'd rather see Firestorm, Red Tornado, the Atom, and Hawkman get back ups.

*sigh*

Gail Simone really was the last person to write a good Black Canary.

I found Tony Bedard to be rather decent with her until he made her give up Sin.

Yeah people tend to rag on Bedard, and I have no idea why. He's done really good things with some characters.

The GA/BC marriage really has became a pretty big fail on DC's part, though.

I still think Bedard's take on the Outsiders would've been vastly superior to what we got. :o

Oh no, is Captain Atom's backup gonna be in a Superman comic? :csad:

Captain Atom's backup will be in Action Comics.

Green Arrow & Black Canary is changing its name to Green Arrow with Black Canary backups.

I like the back up idea but it kinda seems like it 'll make it harder for any of the back up characters to ever get their own series now. I mean what are the chances of Blue Beetle or Black Canary getting their own series based on increasing sales after the back ups?

I cannot believe the crap they are pulling with Green Arrow Black Canary. That is quite aggrivating.

I'm pissed, but at least Black Canary will have the chance to be written as the main character of something.
