A heavier week than expected, given some extra-priced Marvel material and two Image Kirkman books. SSM #1000 is written by John Ostrander and drawn by Mark Brooks I think, which makes it a must buy for me; it'll likely be a pointless but perfectly enjoyable story (a Spidey/Punisher team up, according to the solicit). It actually looks like a good quality week. It is funny how a reprint of VENOM #1 seems to be coming before VENOM #2 hits, unless I missed something.

I'm in a similar boat with these two. I came into Batman with Batman & Robin (well, techincally Final Crisis) and LOVED both that title and the Batman title until the end of that status quo. I wasn't as big on "The Return of Bruce Wayne" and "Batman Inc" has been a bit of a let down thus far... though not bad. It just isn't as good as what came before it.

I think Batman and Robin started bad after Morrison left under Cornell, but Tomasi's got a real interesting plot happening now, I think.

And I don't remember if you're reading it but Batgirl is fantastic. It's definately one of my favorite books each month due to it's simplistic, yet great storytelling approach. It reads like more of a classic superhero story without the angst.


As for the Green Lantern books, they've not been as good since Blackest Night, but I have hopes they'll recover. I knew the first three issues of WotGL was going to be lackluster because everyone's burnt out on hero versus hero, but now that that's out of the way hopefully it'll pick up.

I want to see where it all goes though because if it doesn't get better by the end I may drop the whole line to make money for other stuff I'm interested in.

Then why are you buying it?

I live in a small town, and my LCS doesn't stock much indie material. So, in a lot of cases, I kind of have to make the leap and have him order me some stuff from independent publishers. And since you have to order these things in advance I tend to get stuck sometimes with a lemon for a while even if I don't want to continue. It wouldn't be a problem if he stocked some indie stuff and could just put the issue from my box on the shelves if I didn't like it, but since he's ordering it specifically for me for a few issues, I have to make up the difference.
