This should be Gage's second issue of Astonishing X-Men but I'm getting a little burnt out on all the X-Men books with Schism hitting. I might just start passing on his run. The first issue didn't blow me away so we'll see. I don't normally buy FF but I bought it last issue for Blackbolt since I'm a cosmic fan. I may skim this issue to see if I want to continue.
As for the rest... well it's about time Secret Warriors came out. This HAD to be delayed. At least it's the final issue and the series is over. It was about due for it. I'm shocked it's only $2.99. Schism is fortunately just a little overpriced and I hope this is better than last issue. I'm already going into this story dreading the outcome, the least they could do is make the story interesting.

I am bemused that Marvel titles something with Ben Reilly as "epic".
Bigger week than average, but for once this isn't Marvel's fault, as three Robert Kirkman Image comics decide to come out all at once. While S-D is on schedule, the other two have skipped months here and there.
I truly and honestly regret sticking on SECRET AVENGERS past the Brubaker run. The Spencer run has not been worth it, and I doubt Ellis' will be much better. This will and should be my last issue. Frankly, I'd be wise to not even get this.
The kick-off to SPIDER-ISLAND looks good, even if most of the issue is already available via various sneak previews.
Maybe I should rephrase this... I'm tired of tons of X-Men books at $4 an issue. X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Uncanny X-Force, and Astonishing X-Men are all $4 and now X-Men Schism is $4 which will lead into the $4 Wolverine & the X-Men. If I'm planning on picking up Schism and Wolverine & the X-Men maybe I should get rid of the unimportant Astonishing issues until money frees up. But I just really miss Beast

I love Spider-Man and the basic concept of Spider Island sounds fun but I haven't picked up AMS since before One More Day (and that made me not wanna come back for sure) and have a reluctance to ever return to the character in his 616 incarnation. But I'm enjoying Venom and thats tying into Spider Island so odds are I'll need AMS to have a clue whats going on. Tough choice.

I feel a bit sad when I see this. When I started collecting back in 01. I always thought I'd have that eleven year old joy and pick-up tons of comics everyweek. My usual and whatever new #1. But looking at Xombi and reminding me of how it's ending, looking at Detective and see DC's jumping off point, and then seeing Godzilla and telling myself I'll stop at #6 and might continue on from trades...,man, it's sad. I never thought this would all come to an end.
To think: I'm pretty much closing my pull box on the tenth anniversary of when I started the thing.
Oh, and I guess the ATLAS books will be out too. I get all of those. For some odd reason they are some of the few comics that I've been enjoying.

I don't think you'll need Amazing Spider-Man to get Venom's story. All you need to know is that Jackal's been messing around with infecting bugs with whatever it was that gave Spider-Man his powers. He set them lose on NYC and now everyone's getting Spider-Man's powers, but not all of them have Peter's sense of responsibility. I doubt you'll need to know beyond that.
As for your reluctance to pick up Amazing Spider-Man... I can understand that. I dropped the book after OMD myself but came back on with Slott's Big Time jumping on point. The stories were good save for a boring and uninteresting Fantastic Four arc. The plot is fun but if you're like me and still hate seeing Peter out there dating around and he and MJ not being married, this will still grate on your nerves.
Plus, in my own opinion, I think Slott writes Spider-Man much to immaturely... but that's just me.
So it's up to how you feel since so much tiem has passed since OMD. If you can overlook the changes there then you'll likely enjoy Amazing Spider-Man... but if you're at all still bitter like I am the decent storytelling will likely be overshadowed by Peter's personal life. I dropped the book for that reason a few issues ago and I don't really miss it.
