I'd say it's very unlikely dinosaurs are alive today, but I'd say it's possible some remnants lived on far beyond the mass extinction in the Cretaceous. There are "dragon" stories across all ancient cultures, Biblical references that could refer to dinosaurs, and cave paintings that resemble sauropods.

Geologically speaking though there is damn near no difference between the distance between the earliest human cultures and the end of the Cretaceous and the Cretaceous and now.

To put it simply, it's no more likely our ancestors encountered living non-avian dinosaurs than we will.

That said, written references to bone discoveries go back thousands of years.

Those were some of my favorite dinosaurs when I was growing up. They stand out more than the others because they were like turtles but with a mace on the ends of their tails.
