The Disney owns Fox thread

Disney buys Sony...?
I don't think thats happening anytime soon.

Unless Sony Pictures is really struggling now, and the shareholders of the entire Sony empire is willing to let go of their film division.

Personally, I just want Disney to buy Sony's Marvel movie library, and the rights so Sony Pictures won't no longer be attached to any upcoming Marvel movie. Just want all these upcoming Marvel movies under 1 company. Everytime I think of upcoming mcu movies, I always suddenly remember that Sony is still making their marvel movies... eh

To be fair, we probably wouldn’t have Into the Spider-Verse if Disney owned Sony so, I’m not sure I want all Disney/MCU dominance for everything.

I didn't even like Into the Verse so I couldn't care less if there are no follow ups to that movie. Well I particularly don't care about animated Marvel content.

Eh. I don't see how I'm failing with not being interested in Marvel animated projects especially when I'm already invested in something else (Marvel live action) and for much a longer time.

You like your Into the Verse movies from Sony okay. Well i don't.

Animation is the one major department where DC has Marvel beat, but the Spider-Man cartoons have been good for the most part (the '90s series, Spectacular Spider-Man, Into the Spider-Verse), and there have been a few decent series here and there along the way like the '90s X-Men, X-Men: Evolution, and Avengers Assemble. I'm expecting the What If? series to be a big hit for Marvel animation.

Thats the thing, the last Marvel animated series I watched from start to finish, was Wolverine and the X-Men which is over a decade ago. While the next several cartoons after that show had shoddy animation based from the clips that I saw. I did watch a couple episodes of Avengers Assemble and I didn't like the animation. The upcoming Hulu animated show looks like a 1 and done and I also don't like the animation and character designs.

When it comes to feature films, Into the Verse iirc is the only Marvel movie we have gotten in theaters. I don't like the art style of Into the Verse and I have no interest in legacy characters and the entire roster of Spidey clones. An animated Marvel movie even if its the X-Men X-Men isn't going to be so eXciting to me compare to a live action film.

So imo, its not a loss if we don't get more Into the Verse movies (seriously how many films, sony can make before the sequels eventually disappoint, Sony animation doesn't have the track record of PiXar) in eXchange of not getting Sony Marvel movies like Venom, Morbius and Kraven who will just confuse the mainstream if they are MCU movies or not. The quality of those is also another concern. Venom was the most critically panned marvel movie after the foX movies in 2015/2018.

The question can also asked how good of quality was Nimona before it was scrapped? Historically, Disney only scraps animation projects like that if they aren’t panning out well. And Nimona was in production for TWO YEARS. Do the math.

Looking for a thread, came across this post. We know why Nimona was killed, because it was gay.

There was talk about that some years ago. Like CBS buying Sony Pictures.

I wasn't even considering the whole "Female gay lead" thing a factor. I was more concerned on the lack of quality control over at Blue Sky. But after the recent stuff Pixar complained about, it MIGHT have been a factor. Really dunno.
