The History Channel is airing a special this Sunday at 9PM called "Lost Book of Nostradamus" about the prophet who has predicted The Great Longdon Fire, 9/11, etc. etc. and also- the end of the world. Quite ominous....
Anyone feel one way or the other about his claims? There are definitely some staunch supporters and people who think he's completely bogus...

Yes. The world is going to end.

Eventually. :cwink:

This is like the 10th program about this, just on a different channel.

God, they have been talking about the end of the world of Nostradamus since 1996... every year they say is the year predicted... I wish the world would end already, so we can discuss other issues...

I'm more interested in Newton's prediction of the end (2060) He was so amazingly brilliant. Most people don't realize just how much he knew/discovered/proved. I'd like to know more about how he came up with the date he did. Nostradamous doesn't interest me, for some reason.

This program has been on a ton of times, aired whenever there is some catastrophe like 9/11, Tsunami, Fires in California. It's nothing overly impressive and Nostradamus' predictions are vague enough to fit a ton of different circumstances. This is probably with the guy talking about the 3 anti-christs that Nostradmus predicted. He tries to make it work with a bunch of different people by dropping and changing letters an using anagrams and such...load of hogwash IMO, interesting enough show but pretty much bunk.

saw it..liked it..now i'm scared

people think the world was going to end in 2000.
people are also very pitiful

Thats the reason I did NOT see it. Nostradamus and his predictions are too errie for me.

As for the world ending remember how many people said it would last year on May 6, 2006 LOL

I'm getting pretty numb to this stuff by now...there's always this kind of talk of "We're in the last days," "World's about to end," etc. And except for what they're trying to do with "The Lost Book of Nostradamus," you never have people look at his prophecies FIRST and then prepare for what's supposed to happen. It's always after the fact. Something bad happens, and then they go and look and supposedly find it in his vague predictions. Like Penn (of Penn & Teller) said..."If the man predicted 9/11, then why weren't we ready on 9/10?" It really doesn't count as a prediction if you can only find it's relevance after the fact.

However, that special was freaky, because it mentioned that cosmic alignment which is due to hit around 2012...which is the same year/reason that the Mayan calendar ends, and that calendar is supposed to be the most accurate calendar in history...so the fact that the two are conferring on that point is a tad disturbing. But as Charles Shultz said, "I wouldn't worry about the world ending today...because it's already tomorrow in Australia."

Nostradamus and his predictions are a load of ****. He would say the most vague comments possible so that they can be applied to basically anything. Its like saying "A river will flood in 2008." If there is a flood somewhere, then BAM! I'm a prophet.

Me too! Even the slightest chance of his predictions being true is totally creepy.

I also thought it was interesting to hear how scholars interpreted his drawings and the symbolism that was used/translated.

It kind of reminded me of the Da Vinci Code, no?

That's the way I see it too, I've watched a couple specials and the predictions could really apply to anything. Actually what I'm sure they said about him predicting 9/11, when I saw the Nostradamus special in the '90s, they said that passage was supposed to be the end of the world.
