Don't know if anyone else watches this but it comes on on Fridays at 10pm EST, on the History Channel.

It's about two martial artists ( Jason Chambers and Bill Duff) who travel around the world learning different disciplines of Martial Arts from different cultures. Each ep, they are taught different techniques, then at the end of the ep, one of them has to get in the ring with a real fighter of that dicipline and see how they fair.

If your into Martial Arts like me, you'll love this show!:yay:

The show is very, very good.Ive seen most of them, people should know how much La Savate is powerfull.

I've caught a bunch of them....real good show. A nice amalgam of history lesson and ass kickery. The episode on La Savate was interesting, especialy because of the talk about the subgroup that uses canes as weapons.

I enjoyed the Escrima sticks ep, and the Krav Maga one. Jason did pretty damn good on his test, eventhough i don't beileve the guys that were testing him were truly going at full speed/strength; he still pulled off the techniques well. Oh, and those Krav Maga instructors were pretty damn serious!

i missed the krav maga episode will it be repeated?

More than likely. They usually play on encore of the previous ep, before the new ep airs. So look for it at 9pm EST next week. Next weeks ep is about Muay Thai. I personally haven't seen it but others on here have said they have, so i'm not sure if it's a re-run or not.

It's a re-run. I've seen it myself, and my DVR is automatically not recording it, as it's not designated as "New". Still a good episode though, especially if you haven't seen it.

what if you'd never taped that episode befor would a dvr STILL not record it?

The Krav Maga episode has been the best yet. Totally awesome. Love the show. Definitely a good variation on the different martial arts of the world so far.

Nope. You set it to record episodes designated as "New". Unless Dish Network screws up their listings, an episode is only marked as "New" once. Cool thing though, if somehow the new episode you are recording is not recorded because say, another show with higher priority, or a storm knocked out your satellite signal, the DVR will automatically search for the next instance of the same episode, and set itself to record it.

I love this show so much. The Muay Thai episode has been my favorite so far. Haven't seen the Krav Maga one yet.

By the way, I personally think Bill Duff is complete and utter garbage at everything they do. :o

Yeah, all he has going for him is his weight advantage over most people.

But it's kinda cool watching someone close to "novice status" learning the things they are learning though.

It's also cool seeing a trained MMA fighter like Jason get surprised by new moves.

I grew up with Escrima and Kali, so that was one of my more favorite episodes.

Love the show and watch it regularly. So far I have to say that the Muay Thai episode has been my favorite, but the Krav Maga one is right up there as well.
Definitely looking forward to see the Sambo, Kung Fu, and the MMA episodes, when they air.

As for Bill, his size does hurt him with most of the combat forms they've learned thus far. He did good in learning Muay Thai I thought, and I think he did a great job in the Pankration episode. Just that most of the forms they learn about are better suited for quicker, more agile fighters.

i'm sick of bill gettin his ass whipped

The La Savate` episode was very good,it shows that not all Martial Arts have to be Asian,in order to be effective.

Funny thing is, it was implied during the Pankration episode that Alexander the Great's advance and his troops' Pankration training is what brought the roots of some present-day martial arts to Asia.

Personally, I find that debatable, but still interesting to wonder about.

How come the bald guy never fights in the end, because he learns how to do the techniques like the other guy does?

Yeah, I'm still not a fan of it though. It's definately interesting but it's very...limited. Only the feet and hands are used and they are very basic techniques that pretty much every martial art has (white belt level at that). Now Krav Maga was intense. That's some good stuff. Big fan of that, Muay Thai, and Eskrima. Nice, well rounded martial arts. Judo and Savate just felt very limited to me. Didn't feel the need to get up and try their moves because...well, I knew them already. Now let's see us a Hapkido and Ba Gua episode (woot! home team! :woot:)!

Missed Pankraton so I'm catching that tonight when it comes on again at 1.

The majority of the eps that i've seen he was the one that did the final fight. I know he did the Savate fight, and the Pankraton one. Can't remember which other ones he did, but he's done quite a few.

I always find it funny that they take a week's worth training and then go up against these masters thinking that they can beat them...Usually resulting in getting their asses kicked. Especially Bill. "I just do this one move and it's lights out." *actual fight* "Oh god no. *whack!*"

^ LOL. So true. Bill always throws that in when they learn some cool move.

Yeah, Chambers has been chosen in the majority of the fights as he's the quicker one. Though Bill was going to do the Muay Thai fight, but the champ they were going up against's trainer wanted Jason as he was more the champ's size.
