I'm mad for eurovision. Who's your favourite for this year?

I've only seen the first semi finals so far but so far I like hungary's song. I hope it wins. It's really powerful and it has something to say.

Any other eurovision fans? Haters can hate in another thread if they like

Bearded lady from Austria.:funny:

A singing competition for Europe. Acts represent their country and others across Europe vote for the best or their favourite countries.

This might get booted into the TV or Music forums.

What is it?

It's one of the most amazing events of the year. For just a few short days the jewels of Europe combine to form one amazing singing contest filled with the best of glamour and camp glory.

You can expect to see everything and also expect to see the unexpected. The only rule is to be the most wonderful version of you that you can be.

I just saw conchita tonight and she was just amazing. 12 points for Austria! Shame Lithuania didn't get in though, I liked those guys

I'm from Sweden and it looks like we're the biggest favourite to win this year. Seems to be a lot of talk about Austria recently. Armenia was a favourite among bookmakers for a long time, but after the semifinals that song seems to have fallen back a little. Personally I can't say I have any favourite songs. Not that much into Eurovision. I usually listen to the songs on Internet out of curiosity, but just can't make it to sit through the three hour plus run time of the final. I kinda hope Sweden doesn't win, because we did win just two years ago, and there are better things to spend money on than this Eurovision spectacle.

I saw a bit of this and Poland should have won. Purely for the breasts and stuff...

Sweden while you gave us Abba, you also gave us these guys. lol

The song from greece was incredible! I'm going out to buy the cd tomorrow!

My thoughts:

1. Sweden should have won. Best song this year.

2. Not trying to be a jerk here, but I think Austria won because of political correctness. But congratulations anyway.

3. Norway was terrible this year. I can't understand how the singer got that far.

4. Talentless Poland tried to score points by showing us a porn star churning butter. Worst song this year. My dog can make better songs with his butt (maybe he should compete next year?).

5. The people who booed Russia are childish jerks. I could get it if Putin was on that stage, but that was rude. Hm, now I imagine Putin singing songs by Tom Jones...:(

6. Poor France...only two points.

7. They had 26 songs, but only four or five of then were any good.

8. Even before the contest starts, you know what you're going to get: mostly boring songs, women showing off their cleavage, people trying to shock the audience with nudity/weird stuff, neighboring countries kissing each other's butts with 12 points.

It was certainly not the worst Eurovision contest, with four or five good songs. Usually there's only one or two.

Silvermoth, you're probably the most enthusiastic person about Eurovision I've ever met :oldrazz:

I thought it was rather jolly. :yay:

I quite liked Switzerland's entry- catchy.

Finally sober. What a party last night. What a greater party this morning!

i know it wont win me many popularity contests but the winning song wasn't that great. and it was kinda obvious why the voting went the way it did.

No doubt about it, the media hype made the winner and not the song.

If the 'motive' was to assert values of tolerance as common to all Europeans, then it is not a bad one.

You can contrast that with the anti-gay legislation enacted by Putin's government in Russia.

Poland should've won not for the song but for the artistic beauty.

Ukraine's 2007 song has never been matched so far.

Verka Serduchka for life.

I think it's good that Austria won as an FU but it wasn't the greatest song, IMO. Kinda sub-par early 80's Bond theme-ish.

I really like Netherlands and Iceland.

Didn't say the message was bad, I'm personally of the mind set that as long as your not hurting anyone or ****ing about with kids I couldn't give a damn what or who you do in your personal life what ever makes you happy in life

But my point was that it was more about the motive than the actual performance which in any contest should never be the case. With the reaction that Russia were getting for they're stance( and they deserve all the crap they can get thrown at them over it) np other country would be stupid enough to be seem agreeing with them

And I am perhaps the most enthusiastic lover of eurovision you will ever meet as I love it more than the very blood in my veins!

Just this afternoon I went out and bought the CD, I'm going to listen to it nonstop

Anyway, I loved conchita's song. I think she's amazing and her song was Europe personified. It could only be sung by her and it's a perfect metaphor for Europe emerging from the credit crisis. She deserved to win and I can't wait to see Vienna in 2015!
