The Eurovision thread

Missed this year's Eurovision, probably had to do with my country not being in it :p

Poland

Between this and the bearded lady winning Im wishing this was broadcast in America. The conservatives would stroke out.:hehe:

It's a disgrace I tell you I voted for the Polish girls not for their song but for the artistic movements portrayed by that wonderful woman.

WoW, color me impressed, you like Eurovision and bought the CD really ?
You have earned my deepest respect for I didn't imagined that someone would actually love this show :)

Oh my yes, I listened to the cd twice today and relived every glorious moment.

Actually now that I've heard the French song it kind of doesn't seem so bad. Oddly energetic and catchy actually.

I knew that polish song would be popular on here by the way lol.

I don't think think the song by that guy with the beard who dresses up like a woman (don't remember his name) is the worst song, but it's pretty unoriginal.

It's horrible, but it's way better than Poland's song. That one sounded like a demon possessed clown strangling a cat. And the middle-aged hooker churning butter didn't help:hehe:

Poland's song certainly sounded dreadful, but the lady with the jugs hardly looked 'middle aged' to me.

Her name is conchita wurst and you are genuinely the first person I've ever encountered that has considered her unoriginal but you are entitled to your opinion.

The uk entry was amazing this year, so catchy! It's just that it was such a competitive year. If it had been entered last year it easily would have gotten into the top 5 or even won!

The bearded lady-stuff was original, but his song sounded like two or three James Bond themes mashed together. But like I said, it was not the "Wurst" one:woot:

Ha, brilliant. I see what you did there.

I love James Bond music though so I was thrilled by it :)

Hey, if you can think of a better way of acquiring butter, I would love to hear it! :argh:

Literally so excited for Eurovision this year! It'll be the first time ever my country competes and I get to vote!

Have you moved country or is Eurovision now Globalvision?

From Wikipedia:

Australia will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, Austria. Owing to its cultural and political ties to European countries, the Eurovision Song Contest has been televised in Australia by the public broadcaster SBS for over thirty years. In honour of the contest's 60th running and in recognition of the event's popularity in Australia, it was announced on 10 February 2015 that Australia was invited to compete in the 2015 contest as a special guest participant. Australians have participated in and even won Eurovision as representatives of other countries (Australian coloratura soprano Mary-Jean O'Doherty will also participate in the 2015 contest as part of a group representing Armenia), but this marks the first time that the country will officially participate.
In March 2015, SBS announced that it had selected Guy Sebastian to represent Australia; he will perform the song "Tonight Again". The country will, along with Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom, be given an automatic berth into the finals. Although this will be considered a one-off event, Australia would, per Eurovision rules, still be able to return for the 2016 contest if it were to win. The EBU has considered the possibility of similarly inviting other guest countries to future editions of the contest.[

So quick summary, we get in because it's a wildcard entry and I'm so excited. Not about our act because the singer we're sending is pretty bland but just to be part of the wonderful spectacle.

I have no idea who I'm going to vote for. I quite like the uk's entry because it makes me smile. Can't remember which country, I think Moldova or something is sending a really cute guy so that something. It's all so exciting!

Australia may actually give GB some votes, which can only be a good thing. I predict GB in turn gives Australia 12 points.

Oh that would be lovely actually! Thank you!

As for who will win, I haven't listened to many of the acts this year but I've heard Italy is very popular. How exciting it would be to take the contest to Italy next year!

The only reason people watch eurovision is because of the terrible songs and silly outfits.

And tradition. And the amusing political/xenophobic voting. And the occasional hot girl.
