The FACEBOOK Thread - Part 2

As of today, the New FB Privacy setting called "Instant Personalization" goes into effect.

The new setting shares your data with non-Facebook websites & it is automatically set to "Enabled".

Go to Account>Privacy Settings>Apps & Websites>Instant Personalization>edit settings & uncheck "Enable".

BTW, If your friends don't do this, they will be sharing info about you as well.

Thanks for the heads up Spidey-Bat... mine was enabled. This just pushes me one more step closer to deleting my FB.

Mine wasn't enabled either... but thanks for the heads up :)

I feel dumb asking this quesion but can someone please explain how does Facebook makes a tooooons of money?

Everytime anyone logs in they make a dime or the money comes only by advertising? How does it work?

Part of it is ads, but they keep them low-key, usually on the right hand side. I think money is made from the game applications as well.

Mostly through ads (estimated $800 million in 2010). However, applications, virtual gifts, etc. also generate money.

Advertising is the biggest key to most any site's success.

Zuckerberg has been getting lazy. All kindsa problems with Facebook chat and even just viewing comments lately. Annoying.

This.

All sites make money due to advertising, Facebook just uses ads the work well with the site and don't look like ads. Like Google, usually that first page of sites that comes up are all ads, bought on a "auction" basis, highest paying is first.

Really? Its the most visited website on the net. Almost 2 million people log onto facebook each day. Its a feat that the severs can even keep up with everything on a minute by minute basis. Small bugs are going to crop up from time to time. Its unrealistic to think otherwise.

i dont like this new thing i just noticed today

and they sell 'farmville dollars' and crap like that at 7-11

A while back, there was an offer for free Mafia Wars reward points on a 7-11 sandwich I bought.

What? 7-11's sandwiches are surprisingly good.

Apparently it's a new trend among my friends and I started doing it.

Anyone else doing this?

No, cause I have better things to do like sleep and be lazy and what not.

What exactly do you have to do? Post 1 pic everyday for 30 days?

Just looked up exactly what this is and the answer is NO! way too much work for nothing

It's really a silly fad. One of my friends is doing it for the entire year.
