^Yes. They're classics. If you even remotely like Superman and haven't seen them you are a disgrace. OK, not a disgrace but um...you should watch them.
Awesome! While I already have all the cartoons on this DVD:
I'll still be getting this new set for the cartoons fully restored, the featurette First Flight: The Fleischer Superman Series which has interviews with Fleischer animator Myron Waldman, Richard Fleischer, Mark Fleischer, Leslie Cabarga (author of The Fleischer Story), Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Roger Stern and the new The Man, The Myth, Superman featurette and that cover.
This is from The Complete Superman Collection - Diamond Anniversary Edition DVD from Bosko/Image which I have:
And this is the restored version from the original masters on this new set:
After years of seeing faded scratchy prints this DVD set is awesome! The restoring of these cartoons from their original masters really brings out their astonishingly detailed backgrounds, the dramatic film noir-ish lighting effects and the intoxicatingly rich vivid colors.
There is one documentary called The Man, the Myth, Superman about Superman's roots in mythology and another documentary called First Flight: The Fleischer Superman Series about the history of these 1940s Fleischer cartoons. If you don't get this you are really missing out!
I saw this at Target early this week an wanted to pick it up but couldn't due to lack of $$. Rest assure first thing tomorrow morning after work I'll be going to Target an adding this greatness to my collection
