The Flintstones Reboot

I dunno I've always loved the 94 film, nostalgia sure but also just genuinely enjoy it a lot. Besides Rosie of course.

This was great casting and they had good chemistry together.

I liked it a lot when I was a kid. Goodman, Moranis and Perkins were pretty good and it's got some clever jokes, but I watched it on TV recently for the first time in probably 20 years and it just felt like watching a drawn out mediocre SNL sketch. Also the movie had a hard time figuring out whether it was aimed towards kids or adults. With all the merchandise and the fact that it was based on a cartoon, you'd think it was for kids but that whole embezzlement plot was kinda overshooting it for a kids' film, much like taxation of trade routes in a certain space movie (:cwink:).

I dunno I still quite enjoy it a lot, watched it again a few months ago on tv. Either way the reboot, with Seth involved ehhhh I dunno. I liked Family Guy orignally when it first started like the first couple of seasons. Since then not at all, I think Seth tries too hard with everything he does now.

the teaser they showed a year before came out with Jurassic Park still kicks ass, one of my all time fave 'teaser trailers' ever.

I never saw the second one, but the first one's pretty harmless. I think more than anything about it, I dig the way they realized Bedrock in live-action, cars and all.

Nowadays it would probably have more product placement in it...

...though I doubt the satire aspect of it would be as effective as it is in DC's book.

Ah that movie was like capturing lightning in a bottle. It was perfect. The cast was spot on.

John Goodman can still come back as an older Fred Flintstone.

I do find the criticisms of the Speilberg film having too many adult themes to be stupid cause the original intention of the show was to be an adult satirical cartoon at least until Pebbles was added to the show.

somebody bumped this up?

so are they going to base it on that recent comic that was published?

I don't know why it got bumped. The article linked in the OP doesn't say anything about rebooting the '94 movie, only that there was supposed to be a new animated TV series. Then everyone started talking about the '94 film.

I bumped it because I wanted to talk about who would play the leads in a live action flintstones! It's better than creating a new thread

might as well go with relative unknowns at this point, sell it as the Flintstones brand, rather than have A-list names that will likely quit after the first film.
have the plot lighthearted. the first film's crime plot didn't work for me.

They did that with Viva Rock Vegas and it failed spectacularly. Though it does have the novelty of seeing Robert Baratheon as Fred Flintstone.
