The Ghost Thread

I'm big into the paranormal.
I'm thinking of doing my own ghost hunting soon.
I never had a personal experience so I would like one.
Anyone here have any paranormal experiences?
Anyone here ghost hunt?

Dead serious!

face.jpg

This photograph was taken in the house of Maria Gomez in the little Spanish village of Belmez in 1971. A human face appeared on her cement kitchen floor, and when Maria showed it to a neighbor, the neighbor became so upset she destroyed it with a pickax. A new floor was lain down, but the face returned. This time, the mayor forbid it to be destroyed, and the face was cut out to be put on display. After subsequent inquires, it was believed that the house was built in 1830 over the ruins of an old cemetery used by Romans, Spanish Muslims and Christians.

As Wem Town Hall, Shropshire, England, was burning to the ground on November 19, 1995, Tony O'Rahilly took a picture of the building. None of the onlookers saw the little girl, but when the photo was developed she was there standing in the doorway. He submitted the photo to the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena (ASSAP) who deemed it genuine. When they did their research, however, they found that Wem Town Hall had caught on fire before, in 1677, when a little girl, Jane Churm, was careless with a candle.

This photo was taken in 1919 of a group from the Goddard's squadron, which had served in World War I aboard the HMS Daedalus. On the top row, fourth from the left, there is an extra person. It is unanimously believed that it is the face of Freddy Jackson, an airplane mechanic who died two days before this photo was taken when he was killed by a propeller

I don't know what to think about ghosts. I've never had any ghostly experiences, but it's such a pervasive theme through all cultures and spanning generations .. it makes you wonder. Still, I don't know what the purpose of a ghost would be?

The main purpose of them is they can't pass trough the other side.
Something is keeping them here.
Ghosts are made up from collective energy.
For a ghost to manifest it-selfs it needs to take energy around it.

Cool pics Lunar, better than the typical 'ZOMG THERE'S AN ORB!'

What is the theory on why they can't pass to the other side?

What is the theory on why they can't pass to the other side?
They can't pass to the other side because the spirits restless.
They feel they still have something to do in this world for example some one might be murder and feel they can't pass our because they want help. A ghost might love where they live so much they don't want to leave-reasons for hauntings.

Usually its the whole "Unfinished Business" thing.

Ghosts/Spirits/entities what ever you call them, they exist.

ghosts are fun...

my ex was big on them...she said there was one in my room :csad:

I don't know. I've heard the "unfinished business" theory, but I imagine everyone dies with unfinished business .. though I can see wanting to have a murderer avenged. I don't know, I just don't see that unfinished business or loving where you lived as plausible reasons for ghosts.

Hopefully they'll be no mention of this man in this thread.

Can't stand him, and his over the top 'oh er, I'm possessed by a spirit' crap. English viewers of TV should know who he is.

Becuase thats where they love most or there loved ones are still livinging and they want to stay with them.

Types of hauntings

Intelligent - The entity is aware of its surroundings, including living people who are present within the area. The entity's classification can be benevolent, benign, or malevolent.

Residual - It is believed that a residual haunting occurs when an entity visits the same place and performs a repetitive act. The entity is not cognizant of any living persons who are present within the area and often times is not aware of its surroundings as we see it today. These types of hauntings typically occur after a tragic event and the repetitive acts display a portion of the event as it happened. There are times, however, that the residual act is of a mundane act the individual repeated often in life. Generally these types of entities are not considered an actual ghost, but an imprint of energy left at the location due to the tragic event.

Benevolent - A benevolent haunting is of a protective nature. It is felt that the benevolent entity is a loved one looking to protect the living people within an area in which a demon or other possibly violent entity exists. These ghosts are often found to be related to the living persons within the area, but also have been found to be closely connected to those being attacked.

Malevolent - A malevolent haunting occurs when a ghost or demon seeks to inflict harm on the living within an area. It is said that this occurs because the entity is angry for events that occurred in its life, jealous of the living, or a malicious personality in general, seeking attention, or is defensive of its home and wishes the current living persons to depart, or sad and wants others to acknowledge its sadness and to feel its misery. Poltergeist activity is often confused with a violent haunting; usually it is spirit simply seeking attention. A demon can be present if a murder existed in the area.

Benign - A benign haunting occurs when the entity is unconcerned with the living or unaware of their presence within the area. This type can also be connected to an intelligent or residual haunting.

Due to the amount of fraudulent ghost and paranormal doctored photos or faked recordings of spiritual communication, it has become increasingly difficult to produce proof of such occurrences

So are you suggesting that people, when they die, have control over whether their spirit stays on earth or goes .. wherever?

And why are demons suddenly introduced in the definitions above? Ghosts and demons are separate entities, correct?

i actually think demons and ghosts are the same....dont ask why....thats just what i believe

Some do. Some spirits reject moving on.
Some sprits can be afraid to move on.

Demons are separate enities to ghosts but they still haunt-reason why they are in the different types of hauntings.

So the little girl in the picture above, what category would she fit in? And what would be the purpose of the face on the floor?

I've seen many'a thread on this topic here, but the subject always interests me. So, I'll participate.

Catch anything?

No. Went to one in Whitby and a large portion of Bram Stoker's Dracula was set in Whitby so the guide told us all about the legend of Dracula and its historical influences
