Don't forget the whining about whining from the avenging whine police.

I thought I hated Black Canary's look on SV when they turned her into a tranny..

But I'm not really happy with Maxima's casting and look.

The girl they picked looks too much like a plain Jane with too much makeup to compensate; and is ridiculously pale.

Reminds me of a halfassed Poison Ivy.

It's not from the creators, it's from the current showrunners. The taint of Smallville still clings to them like a needy 4-year-old, though.

The current showrunners are even worse than the creators. Smallville at least started out decently. Not great, but much better than the steaming turd it is now.

I've suspected as much but haven't been masochistic enough to actually watch it to find out.

Even though it fell into the monster of the week formula way too quickly, the first few episodes, hell, even the first season if you want to be generous, were pretty good. They actually had some respect for the Superman mythos in the beginning. But then they got greedy. Oh so very greedy.

Yeah, I watched it for a couple seasons fairly regularly. Then I started realizing how stupid it was becoming, but I tried to ignore it and keep watching. I'd watch the season premiere, try to stick with it for a few episodes, fail miserably, ignore it, then come back for the season finale. That went on for about 3 seasons. FInally, when Green Arrow showed up and started f***ing Lois, I gave up.

BC look was fine, is just ridiculous to pretend it has to be 100% like the comics, not even Nolan's Batman is. Wait, even in the comics looks change, oops! :o

She's too pale?! :lmao:
Wow, Maxima is not supposed to be too pale now, whatever. And thank goodness TPTB are allowed to change her look a bit, cause her comic book look is quite skimpy.

The problem with Smallville is that it had a distinct narrative that it should have stayed on track with. Even with the "Freak of the Week" format, there was still an overall since it was going somewhere. WB kept the show for far too long to make money, the writing staff succumbed to stupid plotlines to break the monotony (Witch Lana anyone?), guest appearances we're done for ratings grabs instead of plausibility, and the show has overstayed it's welcome. I don't anymore of this with The Graysons.

I dont care about being 100% to the comics but this is just ridiculous, some changes just...suck:

Maxima's supposed to be pale? Really?

Nevertheless, the chick they picked isnt attractive; for an intergalatic sex goddess. The Tess actress would even be a better fit for Maxima.

It's not that it was different. It's that it was ****ty. The short hair and face paint mask looked really stupid. And the fact is, if they'd stayed closer to the comic look, she would have looked a lot better, because it is a better design.

The funny thing is he lost his powers in the premiere; and he still looked like Phil Morris.

He didnt revert to his natural form.

Phil Morris is awesome--that's one thing Smallville got right, casting an awesome actor for an awesome character--but imagine how much more awesome he would've been if he were green! At least for a little while, like after someone strong punched him in the face and he lost his concentration or something. Calling a dude J'onn J'onzz just isn't the same as seeing him actually be all green and Martiany.

That's part of Smallville's main redeeming qualities. Or, six main redeeming qualities: John Glover, Michael Rosenbaum, Annette O'Toole, John Schneider, James Marsters, and Phil Morris. Great actors who played their parts as brilliantly and brought as much justice to them as they could with what they had to work with.

Yeah, the first thing I noticed was her chicken-legs.

And the second thing I noticed was that everything about that scene screamed "the boring part of a porno."

Yeah they were great.

I think Cassidy Freeman and Sam Witwer will someday make that list.

In the comics they've changed many things through out the years with these characters (origins, suits, powers...) but then shows or movies can't touch anything? That's just idiotic and shows a lot of mediocrity, producers and writers are not going to repeat the same stories for decades without changing anything, people get tired of it, so change is needed to keep it "fresh". Don't like the changes? Ok, then keep reading the same old classics or watch your favorite animated series, crying a river about looks, suits or whatever is ridiculous.

Why does the fact that many of us don't like Smallville offend you so much?

crying a river about looks, suits or whatever is ridiculous.

Tell that to the Superman forum two years ago

Or several years before that:

Sometimes it does get borderline ridiculous, but it isn't going to stop anytime soon. That's what the forums are for.

But sometimes it's justified; like in the case of how silly Canary looks. It's not a very attractive look for one of DC's hottest vixens.

It has nothing to do with the fact that they made changes and everything to do with the fact that the changes they made were pointless and over all quite ****ty. I'm not a huge fan of the idea that Clark and Lex were friends when they were kids being in the comics. I find that my personal favorite characterizations of Clark and Lex make that more or less impossible. But I was all for it in Smallville, because I knew it wasn't the comics, that it had the potential to be very interesting, and from a storytelling perspective would help the show as a stand alone piece of art. But the fact is, Smallville has strayed so far from what a series about Superman's formaive years should be about, and has ****ed up so many good characters (****ed up, as in, not simply changed, but changed badly), that it's kind of a plate of hot steaming cock.

its not too late for them to turn it into a nightwing show, I am hoping the pre robin grayson will turn out to be bs.

Seriously... terrible idea. No chance for it to be even 'alright'.

A pre-Robin Grayson? Reeeeeeeally? So a show about a circus... I bet there will be mysteries that need solving and only the flying Graysons can do it... ugh.

"The solution to this riddle lies in... a perfectly executed double-somersault! DJ, do your thing!"
