The greatest muppet movie of all time!!!

I am interested in seeing how a member of the Apatow Crew writes a G/PG rated movie, seeing as though they are used to ones of the R variety.

I could tell you what's wrong with Space Jam, I think I'll let that to someone much more talented and opinionated do it for me:

Wow, that review was so bad it actually FROZE MY ****ING COMPUTER! LOOK! I CAN YELL AND CURSE ABOUT THINGS TOO! Jeez, I hope he's trying to be funny that way I can say he failed at two things.

:whatever:

Seriously, picking apart Space Jam from a decidedly adult point of view is unfair. It's obviously not meant to be taken seriously, so the supposedly illogical story is fine. I mean, it's a movie about Micheal Jordan and the Looney Toons playing basketball, who expected it to be a thing of greatness. Yeah, it's not too smart a movie. Sure, it's a bit of a publicity thing, though the whole "ad for an ad for an ad" thing is just dumb, even if it was part of the motivation for making the movie, I never once thought, "Hey, I want to watch those Bugs and Mike commercials" (which by the way, could be because I've never known about them before watching this rant), and I doubt anyone else did.

It's a fun, stupid movie. You don't have to like it, but don't take it so seriously.

If he's going to tear apart Space Jam, he should have focused more on the fact that Looney Tunes originally wasn't made for kids. They were cartoon shorts for adults that played right before a movie to warm up the audience. That's why they had TONS of adult humor, wit, and charm.

With that being said..

The dude made a great point that the Looney Tunes characters in the movie were not funny. He should have stuck with that angle a little bit more because Bugs and the gang were just watered down versions of themselves.

Yeah, but they haven't been at their prime since the original shorts. To ***** and moan that they're not funny anymore is just pointless.

I just watched FSM again today and the puppet stuff in that is so cool and when he's drunk singing on the piano he starts singing about getting things started on the muppet show tonight.

I'm not sure if they touch on this on the DVD at all (I don't have it) but Segal actually wrote a play to be performed by puppets while he was a struggling actor.

It won't be to much of a stretch because Muppets/Fraggles (more so muppets) had a very adult edge to them. No, they weren't dropping f bombs but it was very much more "adult" material then the stuff they say is for adults nowadays like Shrek.

Ultimately thats the only problem with Space Jam. Had they just used charactrs inveted for the film it would have been average kids fair for the time but instead they used Loony Tunes and they do not get along together and frankly, they shouldn't.

Not true as their were a number of specials produced in the 70's that were just as good. The problem is that in the early 90's, while they were re-running the old tunes repackaged as "The Bugs and Tweety Show", parents groups went on tirads over the content of kids cartoons at the time and Bugs and the gang was at the top of the list because it was a cartoon filled with

Explosions
Guns (and especially guns that fired real bulletts)
Numouros acts of violence, most of the "horriffic nature"
Cross dressing (yes this was honestly on their list)
and much much more

According to them all these things could and would warp the fragile young minds of the youth it was being marketed to. Of course they ignored the fact that generations were raised on it as well and turned out fine. Thus the gang was "retired" and brought back in "family friendly" shows (Taz mania, The Granny mysterys etc). Space Jam was the first time they were really brought back into the spotlight and they came back as you guessed it, watered down friendly version of themselves that got along and teamed up.

HOW DARE YOU SAY AN UNKIND WORD ABOUT THE NOSTALGIA CRITIC! :cmad:

He's an ass that looks back on things our generation enjoyed as kids and tries to critique them from an adult perspective which is unfair. :oldrazz:

This forum is about the MUPPETS not LOONEY TUNES and SPACE JAM. With that being said, I just read the 10-page preview of 'The Muppet Show' comic: could've drawn it better, the story line is what you'd expect if you were watching it on TV.

5/10
two points for the art, three points for the storyline

yea the arts pretty bad
couldn't get past the cover..... gonzo looks terrible

He's critiqued stuff like "Batman and Robin" and "Kazaam", which are stupid no matter which way you look at them. The dude's hilarious.

Can't get past the art. Ugh.

Your all on glue, the art is awesome :oldrazz:

Uh and? How is that a bad thing? The Muppet Show IS the Muppets.

Any opinion on The Muppet Babies?

Awesome cartoon and one of the only after the muppet show pieces that actually did something not so horrible.

Plus the live action sequence was one of the highlights of that film.

Did you say TALENTED? You don't happen to actually BE this guy right? :D

The internet is such a wonderful medium. It really has offered individuals a whole new range of methods to make asses out of themselves. That made my toes curl like crazy.

Space Jam is a badass movie.
