The Muppets Most Wanted

Does anyone else have absolutely no interest in this? The previous movie was fantastic and I love the Muppets but all the footage of this film so far has just looked bad, and it doesn't help that I find Ricky Gervais as funny as a sack of bricks.

I'm looking forward to it. But I'm wondering how it's BO.

Divergent is tracking for a 50 million dollar weekend. This should finish in second but hopefully in a decent 30 million range.

Not a lot of people are talking about it. The previous movie was pretty big wasn't it? When I tell people at school that there's a new Muppets movie coming out, they'll be shocked, whereas they already know all about Captain America, GOTG, Transformers etc..

Part of the problem is that it looks like the other generic Muppet movies they did in the 90s. At least the last one did something more original. This looks like it could be a loose remake of "The Great Muppet Caper", even though it isn't.

I mean, we can be wrong about this one.

I was wrong about Frozen and to a lesser extend the Lego movie (but as a fan of Miller/Lord, I knew it would've been good regardless)

It's another crime heist Muppet flick, that's why. The reboot was pretty much still in continuity and their first flick in a decade or so.

The song makes me feel a little bit better about this.

I think by not having Jason Segal and Amy Adams, it does hurt it a bit. Now they shouldn't be the focus of the soft-reboot, but Jason and Gary's journey was the narrative heart of that film. Here, it's gone.

The good news is that it's the same director and co-writer; and the cameos don't hurt. The 90's Muppets just depended on the Muppets. No offense to Tim Curry.

I know Muppets Tonight didn't do so well but I do feel they need a new weekly series or something to keep relevant.

That would be awesome. Would love to see the return of The Muppets Show

Why on Earth would the Muppets need to be relevant? :)

Just got back from seeing this. Omg, it was freaking hysterical. :funny:

It reminded me a lot of Great Muppet Caper, which was probably the funniest of the original three films. It doesn't have the sentimental nostalgia factor that the last film did (which was fine, since that film had that covered already), but it was just a totally screwball comedy - and it still had plenty of old-school Muppet references for us longtime fans, and they brought back another song from one of the original films that I loved.

I don't want to give too much away, but the musical numbers in the gulag had me practically on the floor, and Ty Burrell's scenes with Sam are fantastic. Tons of cameos too, you have to keep your eyes peeled for a few of them.

Theater was pretty full at my show tonight. Predominantly adults, who were roaring at some of the jokes. :funny:

But I thought it was a great. Very happy with it, and I hope we see another movie after this.

Caught it last night, it was funny, but a little too straightforward at times. I think Segel's absence from the writing room kind of hurt it a little as the jabs weren't as biting in some areas. The songs were the high point though, Bret knows how to write a tune.

The third act was specially problematic, but it's still a Muppets movie.

Saw it yesterday...Constantine needs his own spin off movie or come back for the next one. He was easily the best part.

Eh, this was kinda disappointing to be honest. Lacked any of the charm of the first one, with forgettable songs and a second and arguably third act that dragged. It could have been half an hour shorter. 6/10, at best. Hopefully the next movie will be better

I thought it was fantastic. It was nice to see a new tone in a Muppet movie, and a movie that focuses much more on the Muppets than their human counterparts. The overdramatic, serious tone made for some very funny moments of dialogue, and some great visual gags as well.

Constantin was pretty funny, and Ricky Gervais was surprisingly watachable as Dominic. Tina Fey did a solid job as well. Ty Burrell was hilarious working with Sam Eagle.

The balance of the Muppets themselves was handled well this time out, with some supporting characters that had larger roles in the previous movie stepping into the background and others who weren't seen much getting more screenttime.

I loved how Rizzo
made it into like every other shot/sequence and his zinger about the first movie.

It didn't have the same, shchmaltzy charm as THE MUPPETS, but overall I think this movie had a more complex and somewhat more interesting story than the first film, with less character development perhaps, but in a lot of ways, more actual character, especially from the Muppets themselves.

The songs are fine. There was one or two weak ones, but the rest were very entertaining, and the film itself is well made.

Great cameos for the most part, though some were a bit on the nose (which they recognized).

I didn't miss Amy Adams and Jason Segel, which made for a nice transition.

Actually loved this a lot more than the last. The last one, while great, relied too heavily on nostalgia. Plus the Muppets were all side character to new Muppet Walter and his human companions.

What I loved about this one was it was a true MUPPET movie in the style of Muppets Take Manhattan and The Great Muppet Caper. The Muppets are the stars, and they're all in top form. The music was a blast. Loved the cameos, and the three "human" characters were hilarious, yet never distracted from Kermit and the gang.

Manhattan is probably my favorite Muppet movie to date, this one is a comfortable second.

I took my stepdaughter to see this and we all really enjoyed it, I think I personally liked it a step above the last film, just a good fun time and all the songs were very well done and catchy.

Glad to have The Muppets relevant in mainstream pop culture again

8.5/10

I thought it was good, but kinda let me down as I'm a MASSIVE fan of The Muppets and absolutely loved the 2011 film. 7/10

It's good that Walter was included and not vanish, like Scooter's sister did after the Muppet Babies cartoon ended.

Yeah but she never existed to begin with.

We never saw Nanny outside the Muppet Babies cartoon, either.
