What are the areas you are concerned about, or perceive others to be concerned on?

After the last movie it's hard not to be a skeptic

But i believe so much in the comics potential to be adapted into the movies

If they just use Geoff Johns run as the basis for these movies we should be fine

I don't think it'd be a good idea to use any other GL besides Hal Jordan though. All the major GLS should be in this franchise of course but, the main story lines have always revolved around Hal and Kyle and I think it'd be best if they stuck to that with the films

I have said pretty much everything on other threads about my disgust towards WB's treatment of the Green Lantern property thus far, so I don't see a reason to repeat myself again. I will only say that my hopes about the GL characters in the DCEU will be based on how the following movies turn out. I'm very excited about BvS, Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman so if these flicks do well, I might be a little less skeptical about what can potentially happen with Green Lantern in this movie universe. A good Hal Jordan casting or confirmation of the character appearing in Justice League wouldn't hurt either.

GLC is last on the slate, I don't think Wb has much confidence in the character at this point. They're going to use Justice League to reinvigorate interest in the character, and if he is well received, well get the GLC movie

I predict Hal as the main character

Same thing here. THE FRICKING MOVIE IS 5 YEARS AWAY.

What the frick is wrong with this guy? he also opened up one for Cyborg for for frick sakes. That movie has no script,no director, no screenplay and is mother f'in 5 YEARS AWAY.

I noticed there was a skepticism thread in Superman forum, so thought it would be helpful to add to the other forums

Always skeptical when it comes to DC films, even more so when it comes to GL after what happened last time. There are people that were involved last time that will be involved this time IIRC. I'll hope for the best, but I'm not gonna set myself up for a letdown

so i cant make a new thread so im putting this where i feel it should fall under i recently started getting into green lantern and i watched the first movie first flight now im on emerald nights and sinestro standing like right there im super confused and google cant help me i dont know what i missed..

First Flight and Emerald Knights don't share the same continuity, they just use the same character designs.

Uh... Really? The main story lines of GL have ALWAYS revolved around Kyle in some way?

I actually wanted to ask the exact opposite question. I'm not very big on the whole GL canon so I'm wondering even if it's the Corps, will FOUR earthlings who have basically the same power-set be too much of a burden for the movie?

Add to that fan-favourites like Kilowog and Tomar-Re and it would seem over-populated even for a team up movie.

I'm thinking they'll ditch Rayner for the first movie with Guy having a cameo or a minor role.

Pretty much. It's going to be a bit of an overkill. But how they use their powers depends on their personalities, so I believe that would be more interesting to see. Hal is a loose cannon so he will handle his powers in a way that fits his personality, John is disciplined and determined, his constructs would suit his own character as well, Kyle's vivid imagination = more creative constructs etc. I think that would be much more compelling for people to see, rather than the fact that they would have one white guy, one black guy or one latino guy share the same power-set

There is also Simon Baz, A fifth GL. In the past there have been statements from the GOTU about Earth being hub for superpowered beings and the human mind being especially equipped to interface with a GL ring.

I love DC and only DC. Duped is my favorite . I love GL's look in the comics and I saw only part of the reynold's movie( it was rough). Is it really a power that he just imagined something and the ring creates it in a green color? Like a machine gun or .. Whatever? I know he can fly and that's one of his powers but I could never admfford comics. GL seems the hardest DC guy to pull off in my mind. But I sure am rooting for a good movie down the road BIGTIME. But I do think including him is a risk.
Can a big GL fan sell me on how this could come off really cool and explain his powers and how powerful he is?

There are no particular limits on a GL power ring other than periodic recharging. The effectiveness of each ring is directly tied to the wielder, which is why veteran Lanterns are usually portrayed as more powerful and effective in battle.

Lantern energy can mimic any material, so Lanterns can create weapons, holding cells, flying crafts, even temporary living creatures. They can absorb other energies, create blasts, and even wormholes. I could go into more depth, but the description of powers would make my post enormous.
It easier to read the bottom of the GL Wiki page for a detailed list of them:

I think they are gonna have to change green lanterns powers. I think creating anything from your imagination is just too hokey. Comic book people won't like it but I think it's best for a movie. I'd personally leave him out because I think he could sink the whole thing. You'd have more character development for other guys too.

After all the comicbook movies that have come out. I don't think Green Lantern is hokey concept to swallow.

Green Lantern's powers aren't to hokey. I think that's kinda a silly notion.

I think thinking about the powers look CGI wise might be tricky, but the idea of the power itself is fine.

If comic book films can pull off a gun toting raccoon, they can pull off a guy in a domino mask using a ring as a weapon. These concepts don't have to NOT be hokey, they just need to be presented in a cool way.

A GL power ring is one of the most original aspects of the story, and WB simply can't shy away from it. They hinted at the non-weapon features in '11, but the next film will have to develop those. The biggest mistake WB can make will be to look at GLC as anything outside of a Star Wars/Star Trek motif. Those universes are characterized by outlandish concepts and whacky characters, but they are presented unapologetically. The Lanternverse has to use that template.

That's why I don't like Marvel. They're all hokey to me. DC is so much more grounded so I'd just like a clear limit to his powers that the audience can understand , and that he can blend with the other heroes.

The concept really isn't difficult to understand. A space cop using a power ring as a weapon. It's not much harder to grasp than a human lightning bolt, a hybrid undersea king or an Amazonian princess.
