Skepticism on Aquaman Movie Thread

I will keep that in mind if I ever get a film maker interested in partnering up in the future.

I direct and edit music videos and wedding videos regularly. That's how you make money with a camera these days. Link in my signature.

will there be cool enough fish in movie

I know you're joking, but that's another thing we actually know: Wan tweeted about Lovecraftian sea monsters last year. Admittedly, that sounds great.

I would actually prefer some Kraken emerges from the deep only Aquaman could control.

The control over the other fish in the ocean would pale in comparison to that.

Trying to figure out how they'll do the underwater scenes. Do the Atlanteans do like a half walk, half swim thing when moving around? And how will they portray conversations? Will the audio be morphed to simulate being under water? Bubbles flying out of there mouths as they speak?

I'm not being skeptical, I'm just curious and excited. :)

I am definitely not sceptical at all but I am nervous they will have one of those hokey naming cliches that makes everyone roll their eyes.

Comic relief: "Hey, they should call you...waterman"
Mera or someone: "no that's hokey, what about yada yada yada"

Or cutting to a chief in a newspaper saying "it needs a name, what about hydroman! Nah, Aquaman" or whatever.

Honestly I could probably live without the name Aquaman being mentioned throughout the whole movie

Surprisingly enough, this is the one DCEU movie that has me the least concerned. I actually think it will wind up being the best of the bunch.

It'll be interesting to see how these upcoming DCEU movies portray / handle the character. I'm fairly unfamiliar with Aquaman, so heading into Justice League, it will be this character which will draw my interest the most. From what I've seen of this costume design, he looks great. Very imposing. I can't go as far as being skeptical of this movie, because quite frankly, I'm altogether unfamiliar with his past. There's no point of reference for me. Maybe that's a good thing.

My only concern would probably be Snyder's influence on the scenery but I trust Wan to get things right.

Only concern I see is WB doesn't really seem to be decisive in terms of how they want their movies to be meddling with things too often.

That being said, Wan has stuck with the film and I think once WW and Justice League come out, there'll be a bit of a break before Aquaman with most likely only this 1 movie in 2018. 2 films this year earn lots of money, I think Aquaman will have bit more room to breathe (so perhaps good pushed back few months into Dec.), if not expect a lot of stupid lines like in the Justice League trailer...

After seeing the Mera scene in the JL trailer, i'm curious how Wan will adapt the underwater scenes.

Jason as aquaman is my biggest concern. Not with him being bad a, but him being so over the top with it.

Post concerns you may have, or perceive others may have concerning new Aquaman movie!

Wow...from the looks of the responses you've gotten, no one is allowed to be skeptical! SMH...... "Agree with us or die!!"

Well the only complaint I have is DC's casting for this hero and the whole make over from even the New 52 version...... going backwards to the 90's! The only thing missing is the hook.

DC has no faith in it's character's most popular and well known incarnation. They have let years of Aqua-jokes and teasing get into their collective heads. Sadly so have many of you fans.

Quite frankly, they can take a page out of Marvel's book. Marvel's equivalent to Aquaman is Antman. Over there, considered to be a joke..... useless. Spoofed on SNL,,,, etc. "So what are your powers?" Antman: "Well. I shrink down to Ant size and I still have the strength of a full grown normal man!" Har Har Har!!! "Oh ,,, and I talk to Ants!" Oooooh!! :woot: But Marvel blocked out all the noise and KNEW how something like that would look on screen! They believed in Antman's powers being played out visually as a huge spectacle! And it blew the socks off the skeptics! Then he steals the show in Civil War. They barely changed anything about the character except who wore the suit. Even the suit was very close to the comics! You know it's Antman.

Aquaman has put up with very similar problems.... "
Hey you talk to fish right?"
Teased that he's weak when that has never made sense living under the pressure of the deep sea. His costume get's razzed..... But it's a classic. It's the one even soccer mom's know. He's been in media, in some form or another since 1942...... Comics? Well he's consistently carried his own much longer than his competition, Namor.........His own Saturday morning show with Superman in 1966......The early 70's brought him into our homes every Saturday again in the Super Friends, which ran for over a decade. All of that spilled over into all kinds of toys, t-shirts, lunch boxes, pajamas....videos....you name it. He's more popular than Submariner..... Then the Bruce Timm era hit in the 90's bringing him back in the "Fish Story" of STAS. He was classic Aquaman. As that decade closed, the Peter David influence got in..... the bearded hook version lasted through the Justice League and JLU times...... But lo' and behold the classic comes back in Young Justice, Batman: Brave& Bold (spoofed again) and even better in the New 52! Why? Why do they always bring bring the original version? Because that's him! Stop making him into a bearded brooding malcontent! He's not Lobo.... he's not Namor. He's not an alcoholic boozer hothead. He's a king........he's regal.........he's a diplomat.

But alas....that's not what we are gonna get. From all indications we will have "The Main Man" from the planet Czarnia playing Aquaman. :cmad: I saw and article on Yahoo News titled "How DC is making Aquaman cool"... That tells me everything I need to know about what DC thinks of this classic character.

I am not impressed...... Mamoa doesnt do it for me and this is not Aquaman.
The original blonde man with a the gold chain mail shirt riding on the back of a blue whale (there's nothing they cant do today) would have been eye-popping!

Welp......that's my take and I'm sticking to it.

Let the attacks begin. :whatever:

Why would anyone attack you? It's your opinion and you're entitled to it. This is a skepticism thread for a reason :o

I'm not sure how I feel about Momoa. I've only seen him in Game of Thrones and Conan, and he was basically playing the barbarian/warlord archetype. Not sure if that's necessarily the direction Arthur should be taken.

He shouldnt....
