The Grunge/90s Alternative Thread

Anyone listened to the newest Smashing Pumpkins record? I bought it but haven't listened to it.

One and All is great. It's the only song that sounds like SP. The rest is typical Billy Corgan experimentation.

Anyone else watch the "Montage of Heck" documentary of Kurt Cobain on HBO last night?

I thought it was really well done, and really tragic seeing him grow up how he did.

Best era in music for me. My #1 band of all time will always be the Smashing Pumpkins, even if it's gotten to the point where I want to slam my head into a wall whenever Billy Corgan gives an interview. Other favorites of the grunge/alternative/industrial variety:

STP
Alice in Chains
Soundgarden
Pearl Jam
Nirvana
Nine Inch Nails
Tool
Stabbing Westward (now The Dreaming)
Bush
Filter
Dope
KMFDM (they don't exactly count because they were around way before the 90s but they've had varying lineups over the years)
Rage Against the Machine
Jane's Addiction
Brother Kane
Live
The Verve Pipe
The Cranberries
Butthole Surfers
Counting Crows
Collective Soul
Hole
Garbage
Everclear
Silverchair
Candlebox
Gin Blossoms

I love those guys! I miss their early 90s top40 rock vibe. Whenever I mentioned them to people, they always go "who?" I'm glad others remember them.

One of my fave bands from then was "MY SISTERS MACHINE" :)

Awesome band. I met them back in '92 when they opened for White Zombie. Cool guys. Helped Ivan steal a pack of smokes from an old discarded cigarette machine and hung out with Nick through most of Zombie's set. I still keep in touch with Nick. MSM actually still perform together every now and then. Nick has a couple of other projects also.

Wow cool :)

Thread revival!

How did I never hear this band back in the day? Had them on repeat last few days and reliving my 90s grunge obsession. So catchy
