The Gunbarrel scene could have been so much better!

a gun barrel sequence integrated into every movie, no, bad idea, very bad idea "oh yeah, it just so happens that every coupla years james bond suddenly springs round when you least expect it and shoots a hidden guy holding a rifle". nah

This idea just sounds dumb... Colliding bullets? Realistic? WTF?

Why not just have someone shoot Bond in the eye and have his retina stop the bullet? :whatever:

It wouldn't have to be like that. It wasn't even like that in CR, to be nitpicky. The guy wasn't hidden, he didn't have a rifle, and Bond didn't really spring around unexpectedly, he just turned and shot. I think "Bond turning and shooting a guy" happens pretty often as it is, so why not make it the gunbarrel? I rather like that idea.

My favorite part in Casino Royale was the introduction to the gun barrel... giving us a reason for why we see it in each and every Bond film. I loved how they did it... however, it got me thinking... they could have done it so much cooler! Here's how.

Okay, the scene goes as it does in the film, with the bathroom. They should have had the guy lift up his gun, point it at Bond, and then we get an inside view of the gun. We see the bullet inside the barrel, ready to fire, the gun fires, we see the bullet lift out of the gun with a flash of fire and sparks, now we have a first person view locked onto the bullet, exiting the gun barrell(yes, we actually leave the gunbarrel). We see Bond notice this, he turns around aiming his gun. He fires. His bullet collides with the other bullet and both bullets are pushed into the gun(we re-enter the gunbarrel) as the gun sparks and blows up since it is jammed. The blood drips down as this happens... enter title sequence.

It sounds complicated, but I think this would have made the scene so much more badass... they should use it for the next bond film.

Okay, I have yet to see CR (not for a lack of desire to). But after reading this idea, my mind is split in two.

1) The visual would be very cool to see the inside of the gun. Seeing the bullet being lifted from the magazine and into the barrel, the pin shooting forward, triggering the gun powder and the bullet flying out of the barrel as the camera follows through (maybe even spinning with the bullet until it leaves the barrel) would lend for an awesome shot.

But thats were the goodies end.

2) First off, Bond having the time to turn around, aim and fire as the enemies bullet is speeding toward him can only be seen as "realistic" in the matrix movies. Bond would be dead BEFORE HE EVEN HEARD THE BLAST! Not to mention the likely hood of the both bullets colliding being damn near impossible. And even if they did, one bullet pushing the other backward is impossible - the force of boths movement would most likely fuse them together and/or flatten them into paper thin lead fragments - if they hit at all.

That being said, I can't wait to see the movie, especially this particular scene in question.
