The Guns thread

I'm guessing the gun manufacturers are loving this. My understanding is that sales have fallen since Trump took office because folks knew he wouldn't try to take their guns away. Now, gun control will be back in focus and the crazies will be lining up to get what they can while they can. :(

At this point the only difference way to regulate guns will be when humans find a new convenient way to kill each other. Then less Americans will want them.

Does Vegas have an open carry policy? I mean, yeah, where was the "good guy" with the gun?

Even if there was a good guy with the gun, he wouldn't have been able to FIND much less take out a dude on the 32nd floor, and probably would have been shot dead by police because he was packing during an open shooting situation. And if he was a black guy packing, he would DEFINITELY be shot dead.

Yup, can't say I disagree.

You’d think they’d secretly try to get Democrats elected as President if that were the case.

Anyone who supports AR weapons, automatic, partially automatic, high magazine capacity, military grade, mass killing machines is an idiot, small ween prick that can't wait for a legal reason to get to fill something or someone with bullets. The crazies don't care about legality obviously. No one needs more than a hunting rifle, hand gun, or shotgun. You don't need an AR-15 to fight off a burglar. You don't need an AR-15 to hunt a deer. You don't need an AR-15 to fight a tyrannical government...a highly funded military would blow you out before you finished your clip. What's the point of assault style weapons in civilian hands? There is none.

I say that being a 2nd amendment supporter, reasonably, by owning a pistol and a shot gun. You come into my house unwanted, you get my double barrel. You won't get Redneck Rambo with a *****.

End of rant. So sad that loss of life doesn't qualify for change. This wouldn't have been 100% avoidable but I would bet a lot less people would still be alive had he not had legal access to the unfortunately legal weaponry he used.

Plus...there should be a limit on quantity. You don't need 40 guns....

I understand you can never outlaw guns completely in the US. There's just no way it can happen. You can regulate the **** out of them though. Limit mag size. Limit how many someone can own. Limit the amount of ammo someone can have. Require a license that has to be renewed and is strictly enforced. There are ways to have our cake and eat it too in the US, but the NRA cares more about corporate profits than human lives. That's the bottom line. Carnage is very good for business.

Technically had the security guards had weapons, maybe. Who knows. At the very least it seems the high rise hotels on the strip need to beef up security quite a bit.

One of the country singers said they were scared that the cops would mistake them for the shooter. He apparently had a political about face on gun control, as he got a front row view on the chaos of a mass shooting, and realizing that the "good man with a gun" is a jingoistic myth.

Anyone else want to ban drum mags? We literally just witnessed the only practical use for a firearm carrying 50+ rounds. Now before any crybabies come at me, let me know of a reasonable use for a drum mag. "I want one" isn't a legitimate reason.

There isn't one. You don't need more than 6 bullets to hunt or shoot an intruder. If you do then you don't need to own a gun...

The only argument is the slippery slope one, and trust me, they will beat a dead horse with that one.

That's a horrible argument though. We outlawed machine guns and explosives in the 1930s. The 2nd Amendment still isn't repealed.

Of course it's a horrible argument. When has that ever stopped them from making it?

Pretty much my thoughts as well, when ever I talk about this stuff.

Plus they'll scream all day and night about respecting police but won't give them a chance of going home at night to their families by not letting civilians have easy access to these kinds of weapons.

The last Democratic presidential nominee believed you also didn't need and had no constitutional right to a shotgun or handgun.

Handguns for protection and shotguns for hunting I get. It's assault rifles that baffle me. A civilian needs those ...why?

Honestly after nothing happened in the wake of Sandy Hook, I doubt this will make a difference.

Assault rifles are by definition capable of selective fire (think fully automatic). I think you mean semiautomatic rifles. I wish people would at least get the terminology right, and this is coming from someone who wants gun control.

Any semi automatic with a high capacity magazine is an assault weapon imo. It's designed to kill people in combat. You don't need to be able to fire off that many rounds with a click click click click.

I guess I mean anything that is more military grade than for sporting.
