It's also been horribly over-pimped. Honestly I didn't mind the commercial stuff (Like Puffy) back in the day cause they was a balance and an alternative but now that it's selling the corporates are having more rigid control and everyone is more business orientated marketing damn near parodies then being organic or creative (except maybe Nas, Kanye, Kweli, Common, Saigon, Little Brother, Outkast, David Banner)

It's not music, it's just people talking fast. Thugs talking fast about thug things. All about the image, the flash, the bling. "Look at me. I'm a stupid, worthless, thug muthaforker but I got me a lambrghini, a ho on each arm and 500 carats of bling on my watch." Responsible for the "thugization" of the country.

Words can not express the hatred I feel towards rap.

Yo!!! Dead ass Tupac! Bite' "dis".

That is completly ignorant. Not all rap is about that. Listen to Eminem and Kanye West they speak about their life. I agree alot of hip-hop is all about effing *****es and bustin caps in peoples ***es but saying all rap songs are the same is the most completely ignorant thing I've ever heard.

But grunge and heavy metal are so much better when they are really saying the same thing rap does. Only in heavy metal you have more people really just saying worship Satain.

I will give it up for Saigon and Nas. I just recently heard Saigon on Entourage and I was extremely impressed, but I still hate 99% of rap/hip-hop.

Well, as has been said a million times before, wrong, rap is music, it's a style of music that you don't enjoy. It is not just people talking fast, they're talking in rhythm, often very complex poly-rhythms with incredibly deftly applied syncopation. If it's just talking, then please, ask your Grandma to perform Bombs over Baghdad on karaoke night.
Next, to say that "ALL" Rap is about image, flash and bling and the "gangsta" lifestyle shows a lot of ignorance on your part. It's like saying that all Rock and Roll is about sex and all CountryWestern is about your wife cheating on you. It's...simply not true.

Go tell Chuck D that all he raps about is bling and ho's.
Your a musical bigot. :down

Obviously you listen to sterotypes and have never actually listened to the music. - Tupac was different from all those sterotypes, just like many others.

"Step Up"

1, 2, 3 - Go!

Broken,
Yeah, you've been living on the edge of a broken dream.
Nothing,
Yeah, that's the only thing you'll ever take away from me.

I'm never gonna stop,
I'm never gonna drop,
Ain't no different than it was before.

So take some good advice,
You better stop and think twice,
Before you take your first step,
Out that door.

If you wanna step up (step up),
You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down).
If you wanna step up (step up),
You're gonna get knocked down.

You had your chance to walk away.
Live to see another day.

If you wanna step up (step up),
You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down).
You're gonna get knocked down...

Aaaaah...

Suffering,
Yeah, that's the only thing here that's left for you.
Nothing,
Yeah, that's the only thing you're ever gonna ****in' do.

I'm never gonna stop,
I'm never gonna drop,
Ain't no different than it was before.

So take some good advice,
You better stop and think twice,
Before you take your first step,
Out that door.

So if you wanna step up (step up),
You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down).
If you wanna step up (step up),
You're gonna get knocked down.

You had your chance to walk away.
Live to see another day.

If you wanna step up (step up),
You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down).
You're gonna get knocked down...

You're gonna get knocked down...

And now you've crossed that line...
You must be out your mind.

Go.

If you wanna step up (step up),
You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down).
If you wanna step up (step up),
You're gonna get knocked down.

You had your chance to walk away.
Live to see another day.

If you wanna step up (step up),
You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down).
You're gonna get knocked down...

You're gonna get knocked down (step up).

You're gonna get knocked down...

You're gonna get knocked down (step up).

You're gonna get knocked... down!

If she said angry music, I should have just said Slayer and been done w/ it.:D

Mike Jones:

"Back Then"

[Chorus 2X: samples from "Still Tippin'"]
"Back then hoes didn't want me, now I'm hot hoes all on me"
"Back then hoes didn't want me, now I'm hot hoes all on me - I SAID"
"Back then hoes didn't want me, now I'm hot hoes all on me"
"Back then hoes didn't want me, now I'm hot hoes all on me - I SAID"

[Mike Jones]
Mike Jones!!
Befo' I came up in the game these hoes didn't show no love
They see me in the club and used to treat me like a scrub
They wouldn't holla cause my dollars wasn't swoll enough
I bet they change they mind when them 80 4's come rollin up
They see that I'm a star, now they wanna sit in my car
Now they wanna count my cheese, smoke my weed and sip my bar now
They used to love to me diss me, now they rush to hug and kiss me now
They tellin all they friends when I leave how they miss me now
2 8 1, 3 3 0, eight zero zero 4
Hit Mike Jones up on the low cause Mike Jones about to blow
Befo' the ice was in my grill, befo' I got my major deal
These hoes wouldn't give a damn if I was here, shea
Befo' the ice was in my grill, befo' I got my major deal
These hoes wouldn't give a damn if I was here, shea
Befo' the ice was in my grill, befo' I got my major deal
These hoes wouldn't give a damn if I was here, shea - because

[Chorus]

[Mike Jones]
I remember back den, most of them hoes couldn't stand me
But now them same hoes beggin me to pull down they panties
A couple of 'em said I was cute but I was just too chubby
Same size a year later the same hoes wanna **** me
Because they see me paid, pimpin pens, workin my jelly
And I ain't trippin cause my pockets stick out mo' than my belly
They know I'm paid, livin laid in the shade
2 slabs in the Escalade with fo' or five estates
Then know that I got it made, I'm a mother****in baller
She would want a ***** now but I ain't got no time to call her
I'ma stall her like she stalled me, now she tryin to call me
***** I'ma dog yo' whole ass like you dogged me
I'm Mike Jones, don't act like you don't know the name
Ain't nuttin changed but my change, I'ma stay the same
I'm Mike Jones, don't act like you don't know the name
Ain't nuttin changed but my change, I'ma stay the same

[Chorus]

[Mike Jones]
Befo' my paper came, befo' I got my fame
These hoes that's poppin on me now didn't even know my name
They said my flow was lame, they said I had no game
I told 'em all I was fin' to blow they thought I was insane
But then my name started blowin up quick, now they jumpin on my dick
Cause they see me on the rise and oh now my paper thick
But then my name started blowin up quick, now they jumpin on my dick
Because they see me on the rise and oh now my paper thick

[Chorus - 2X]

Eminem:

"Mosh"

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands
One nation under God
Indivisible...
It feels so good to be back..

I scrutinize every word, memorize every line
I spit it once, refuel and re-energize and rewind
I give sight to the blind, my insight through the mind
I exercise my right to express when I feel it's time
It's just all in your mind, what you interpret it as
I say to fight, you take it as I'mma whip someone's ass
If you don't understand, don't even bother to ask
A father who has grown up with a fatherless past
Who has blown up now to rap phenomenon that has
Or at least shows no difficulty multi-task
And in juggling both perhaps mastered his craft
Slash entrepreneur who has helped launch a few more rap acts
Who's had a few obstacles thrown his way through the last half
Of his career typical manure moving past that
Mr. kisses ass crack, he's a class act
Rubber band man, yea he just snaps back

[Chorus:]
Come along follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength
Come with me and I won't steer you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
To the light at the end of the tunnel
We gonna fight, we gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march
Through the swamp, we gonna mosh through the marsh
Take us right through the doors (c'mon)

All the people up top on the side and the middle
Come together lets all bomb and swamp just a little
Just let it gradually build from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people some white and some black
Don't matter what color, all that matters we gathered together
To celebrate for the same cause don't matter the weather
If it rains let it rain, yea the wetter the better
They ain't gonna stop us they can't, we stronger now more than ever
They tell us no we say yea, they tell us stop we say go
Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell we gonna let em know
Stomp, push, shove, mush, **** Bush, until they bring our troops home (c'mon)

[Chorus]

Imagine it pouring, it's raining down on us
Mosh pits outside the oval office
Someone's tryina tell us something,
Maybe this is god just sayin' we're responsible
For this monster, this coward,
That we have empowered
This is Bin Laden, look at his head noddin'
How could we allow something like this without pumping our fists
Now this is our final hour
Let me be the voice in your strength and your choice
Let me simplify the rhyme just to amplify the noise
Try to amplify the times it, and multiply by six...
Teen million people, Are equal at this high pitch
Maybe we can reach alqueda through my speech
Let the president answer a higher anarchy
Strap him with an Ak-47, let him go, fight his own war
Let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our own soil
No more psychological warfare, to trick us to thinking that we ain't loyal
If we don't serve our own country, we're patronizing a hero
Look in his eyes its all lies
The stars and stripes, they've been swiped, washed out and wiped
And replaced with his own face, Mosh now or die
If I get sniped tonight you know why,
Cause I told you to fight.

[Chorus]

And as we proceed,
To Mosh through this desert storm,
In these closing statements, if they should argue
Let us beg to differ
As we set aside our differences
And assemble our own army
To disarm this Weapon of Mass Destruction
That we call our President, for the present
And Mosh for the future of our next generation
To speak and be heard
Mr. President, Mr. Senator
Do you guy's hear us...hear us...[laughing] (Hailie)

Thank you. I hate how all these people say is sounds the same, yet if I were to say their music sounds the same, they'd jump down my throat. There's a good chance 90% of this board is rock and rock fans, and if I said it was "fake depressional wanna be rich kid music blah blah blah," they'd flame the hell outta me. I like all types of music, from video game, Hip-Hop, Jazz, classical, rock, etc. and I like to keep an open mind. Country is my least favorite music genre, but I don't go around saying flat-out country music sucks. I just say I'm not into that type of music.

Now Mike Jones I do like to an extent. His lyrics are cliche, but somewhat clever.

Man I swear, every damn rap thread here...by the 10th post, some idiot(s) always gotta bash the whole genre with some ignorant remarks. Seriously, stay the f**k out if you don't like listening to it, cause we don't like listening to your bullsh1t either. :down

I listen to Nas, Tupac, Biggy, and Public Enemy. I listen to rock mostly because Nowadays all they rap about is being rich and having cars while the artists I mentioned talk about issues in the world and the streets in the early 90's. I don't listen to Hip-hop much but I do appreachate (sp) the people that helped create the genre.

Funny thing is, i'd never go into a, say, country music thread and bash the hell out of it. Hip-hop seems to be the one genre of music where people feel entitled or even obligated to hate on it. *****e bags.

And anything having to do w/ the current state of punk.

Touche, pussycat. I'd wager even the rock threads don't get that kind of response. It all depends on whose in the majority.

i like eminems songs, but i just hate eminem as a person. Which makes it even harder to like rap, when you got people who you cant stand representing the genre. If rappers werent so god damn annoying id attempt to listen to their songs.
