anybody getting on this Bruno Mars hype like I am? he's defintely the next big thing. He's featured on B.o.B.'s "Nothin' On You" and Travis McCoy's "Billionaire"

Alrighty, so I'm just gonna pretend Luda's new CD "Battle of the Sexes" never came out or was just a bad dream. This is some garbage; like Release Therapy bad. Damn shame, he's one of my fav rappers. I like 3 out of 15 songs.

I'd be happier if he just re-released Word of Mouf or Red Light District and called it a new CD :o

It had entirely too many slow songs for my tastes. Felt like this CD was made for women. I could never ride around with my boys having this album playing. But hey, this CD made me go back and listen to Theater of the Mind a bunch more

That is why you never buy whole albums until you hear every track. I have only one joint from that album: "My Chick's Bad." And even then, I only got it for the word play during Niki Minaj's verse. On the positive tip, I am looking forward to Lupe's new album.

I certainly didn't buy it haha.

I'm lookin' forward to Lupe's album, but I'm so sick of "I'm Beamin".

Ah. I must be one of those rare folk who still spends his money. My friends laugh at me all the time for still buying my comics, music, movies and games.
But to be honest, nobody should spend their money on something that is some ol' bull anyways. So I can't knock you for not spending ends on Luda's album.

As for Beamin'...I love to play it on Piano. Luckly, my girl listens to RnB and not hip hop. I avoid the radio. So I haven't played it out yet. It could also be the fact that I spend more time listening to Blackmoon and Blackstar than I do commercial rap. But i'm still hyped for Lupe. Hopefully you find something to be hype for in this sea of bool**** albums and artists. I mean I don't wanna call out too many names..but Wacka Flocka and his ilk are messing up the whole game.

There's a ton of stuff I buy, but with the current state of hip hop, a preview is necessary. As a matter of fact, I need to go buy Chicken&Beer still. Somebody gave me a burned copy, it's the only Luda CD I haven't given him $$ for(BotS excluded)

As for Wacka Flocka, dude makes dumb music but I'd be lyin if I said it doesn't get my head bobbin

I don't know. I just can't get into it if folks say stupid things over the beats. I really try to get into the music, and I can even admit if the beat is hot. But if the words are garbage...it just kills it for me. That's why I can't get down with Stanky Leg, Crank That, Pop Lock n Drop It, Chicken Noodle Soup, Aunt Jacky or Wacka Flocka. I suppose I could appreciate it for what it is...but I'm just uptight like that haha.

Gucci Mayne is a guy who's beats are mediocre and has NOTHING of interest to say, so I def understand what you mean.

As for lyricists who rap about stuff other than drugs and cars, I've really been feeling Jay Electronica lately. Idk if he's new to the scene or if I'm late as hell but I can dig it. You'd never guess he was a Souther rapper too, his flow reeks of NY

Y'all need to get on that Sean Brown tip....

I gave him some spins.

- His flow is somewhere between Kanye West, Pharrell and Lupe Fiasco. That isn't a bad thing. I just got that vibe.

- His beat choice puts me to sleep. I am fine with soft or mellow beats, but this dude picks some strange beats. I listened to "Time" and "LA Girl" and "It's Okay." I wasn't feeling any of those beats.

It might just be my own bias based on the kinds of beats I make. I really have that old steelo when it comes to beat making. You know, like Pete Rock, Jay Dilla, Premo etc. So I'm all for soul/jazz/funk sample flips and drum breaks.

I've been listening to Jay Electronica stuff he reminds me of Nas a bit.

I don't know if anyone has heard Royce da 5'9"'s Street Hop, but its definitely worth checking out. Dope.

You peeps over the pond heard of Plan B? He's ****ing sick. Check out the track "Kidz" insane lyracist.

Hey Ace what do you think of Plan B's new album?
His mostly singing but I really like it.

End Credits he did with Chase & Status was good too.

Yea it's a far departure from his last one. He's actually got a pretty good voice. Love "She Said". Great tune.

I prefer his first LP though to be honest.

I actually heard Cypress Hill's new one the other night, even though they're technically more rap/rock in recent years. Good hearing B-Real again though.

I don't know if anybody has been checking for any Dr.Dre updates but a big one was just annouced this weekend and monday that his album will be released this year and his first single will be with Jay-Z titled "Under Pressure"

I might've been excited with this collabo if it were in the early 00s. Jay isn't that "street" Jay anymore, so I'm not sure how Dre would fit him (just check out KC).

Dre is the perfectionist, however, so maybe they'll come up with something truly special. I'm patiently waiting.

I hope that his collabo with Mos Def and Curren$y is still going to become a reality.

Haha... I haven't really thought about Cypress Hill since around '94. I used to be SO into Cypress Hill... until they released their 2nd album. :down

I'm thinking this new album is going to be overappreciated. His beats, though very clean and almost addictive, haven't been anything to blow up the spot recently. I'm predicting a multiple listen album that will have to grow on me for me to like it.
