Nah, Texas takes the cake. Not only do we kill more people via the death penalty than any other state, but we even allow our juries to decide the severity of the sentence for a conviction.

Texas has it's share of dumb cases too.

Pshhh you keep that title for now. If we keep going this speed we'll be the true heir of reckless abandon in no time. :whatever:

Really? That's interesting. So if someone was beating your face in and you think the person is going to beat you to death and your only way of defending yourself at that point is using your gun you wouldn't use it? You would just let them potentially kill you?
Things I would do before shooting

Kick a guy in the balls
Bite them
Poke them in the eyes
Hit their kneecap
Stamp on their foot

Now if it came to shooting them I would aim for the leg

Now if Zimmerman had a free hand to shoot and he probably could have done a ball punch or eye poke.

That was closed pretty quickly. I hate threadbot! :argh:

Zimmerman was the first person who started to be aggressive by following Trayvon. I should point out the words "I think" in your statement as the problem with your theory, basically you think that's how it went down with no proof. We have no proof what exactly went down other then the fact Zimmerman shot Trayvon in the end.

For all we know Zimmerman could have pushed Trayvon first, or tried to throw a punch first, could have said something insulting to get Trayvon going, etc.

Simple fact is Zimmerman getting out of his car and trying to play cop is what threw gas on this fire
Im going off the facts that were presented and clearly the jury thought the same as me.

He could have pushed him or tried to throw a punch, but when Zimmerman's mma instructor says he had a .5 skill when it came to fighting I doubt it. Him saying something insulting is more likely but even if he did that you cannot by law attack a person.

I agree on the last part, Zimmerman shouldn't have followed him on foot.

It's all over my facebook my friend. Just thought I share

I'm surprised people thought there was going to be a guilty verdict. I knew the guy was going to get off. This case was more like a he said, she said rape case. There's only so much you can prove without proper evidence and the prosecution wasn't doing their best to present their case anyway. The only people who truly know what happened is Zimmerman and Trayvon who's dead.

One thing is for sure though, if Zimmerman stayed in the car like he was advised and let the cops do their job no one gets shot that night. I think people are going to be justifiably angry because a kid is dead as a result of some a**hole who decided this kid was a threat based on his appearance (skin color and clothes). He decided the kid shouldn't be in "his" neighborhood and escalated an unnecessary situation. That's why I tend to laugh at America and that "land of the free" BS. A kid can't even walk down the street without getting hassled by some idiot who's emboldened by carrying a firearm.

So does anyone smell a retrial, idk how that works.

Say you tried all those things and they didn't work and your last result was pulling out your gun and saving yourself, you wouldn't do it?

Really annoys me when people say they would aim at someone's leg or they should have shot the leg when anyone who even has the tiniest bit of knowledge about guns knows when you shoot you shoot to kill.

If a BOY was attacking, I'm pretty sure any man could protect themselves without having to use a gun, I'm sorry.

He was trying to be an instigator by following him, and it didn't stop there IMHO.

Well gang I am gonna unsub this thread. As a person I like to dwell on positive and not negative things. It was a pretty good discussion and argument. See you all later.

Depends on how big the boy is. If he's taller than me, I'm going to act in my best interests. Of course, I'd aim to put him off and escape to a nearby residence for help.

If Trayvon had a gun sure shoot to kill, but if he isn't then why not just shoot to wound/injure? I think it's ridiculous to have an attitude if you are going to shoot a gun you are best to kill somebody, but hey I am guessing alot of people who donated to Zimmerman's lawyer fund felt exactly the same way.

I have to think given the position Zimmerman said he was in that a leg shot would have been quite easy

The absurdly misleading picture the media shoved down everyone's throats of a 12 year old Trayvon, he was 17 and a football player. Not a little kid.

That's an understatement.

Zimmerman didn't have to "insult" him.

He was a stranger, at night, who stalked Trayvon Martin and wouldn't leave him alone.

Then he confronted him.

This would scare the heck out of anyone.

In other words, just about anyone would be scared for their life and have damn good reason to fight for their life.

Irrational thought process you have there. I go to the gym and see "boys" Trayvon's age that are as big as bodybuilders. So if one of them were to jump on some puny man and started beating them they should be able to defend themselves?

People are letting their emotions run their thought process instead of facts,

If Trayvon Martin is supposed to be this large intimidating black guy why follow him in the dark and escalate the situation in the first place?
