i am betting hedlund will get it if that shortlist rumor was true seeing how Taylor and Armie had no interest

but jena was'nt even shortlisted when johanna rumors came out so who knows

With Hoffman officially on-board, I'm officially excited for the sequel. I haven't read the second book yet but I heard that his role in the novel is small but vital. It'd be disappointing if it's the same in the movie as well, but I assume they will expand his role much like Seneca Crane's role was.

Is the split really necessary?

I don't think it is, the first film is going to be really slow if they split it where I'm thinking they will.

It didn't work for Potter, and it wont work for this.

That was the only film series where it was actually called for to properly do the final book justice. It totally worked, because those are the best two Potter films and they each made a **** ton of money.

I think it's pointless to split Mockingjay into two films. The least they could do is move up the release date for Part 2 to Summer 2015 and get it over with quicker.

Well, I disagree. Part One was literally the most boring 2 and a half hours of my life. Part 2 was much much better, but it was basically just a 2+ hour climax of a movie.

i'd rather they split catching fire tbh

if they split CF, combined the latter half of CF with some of Mockingjay and then the final film i think it'd be better

They're obviously gonna have to add a lot of stuff to the two Mockingjay films. The book itself is no more than a 2.5 hour movie, tops.

Agreed.

CF is way too deep with so much and theres so many little things that need not be deleted or omitted due to time constraints and whatnot.

They're still working on the script for Catching Fire, and I'm sure Suzanne Collins and Michael Arndt will probably leave some plot elements open for the 2-part Mockingjay to answer.

Did you not read the book? Judging from your opinion, of course not. The book was the second longest in the series, and even with the previous omissions and changes in the previous six films -- there was more than enough story for two movies.

Sure, the company split the movie into 2 parts to double the revenue they'd earn on one film. But I think the split allowed plenty of time in the finale to build the setup and give the conclusion people wanted to see. That's not the case with 'Breaking Dawn' and 'Mockingjay.'

Plus there wasn't any subplot or anything they could get rid of to shorten it. Everything in the movies were neccessary

But there obviously wasn't. Other than the beginning and the ending, Deathly Hallows Prt.1 was a whole lot of nothing. It felt like half a movie, because it was.

When I watch the series now at home, I literally just watch the beginning and the ending of DH1. And occasionally I just skip in entirely.

You might want to rewatch it again. All that stuff in the middle that you skipped played an important role in Part 2.

So, again, I disagree.

And again, I will continue to disagree.

BTW, I saw DH1 twice in theaters. So I've sat through the entire thing enough.

Splitting MOckingjay is stupid as f***
Nothing really happens in Mockingjay honestly. And while I respect that making movie is a business and that they are about making money, I still don't like this decision

has anyone given any thought as for casting other characters.

Joan Allen was one of my first ideas for Coin.

I can't remember his real name, but HRG from Heroes is who came to mind when i was trying to cast Beetee
