meh, not sure what i think.

nice job chris. glad to see someone give it a go

I'll have to give these ones a shot. I never got around to finishing my Shazam from your last batch.

I am going to go back and add a few more layers of color and texture to this. But this is what I have for now.

Hey I'm glad to see this thread crawled back up to the surface, I kind of got burned out on coloring while trying to finish the Watchmen line art on the previous page and just quit coloring for a while. Now that it's back though I think I'll try Black Canary.

this is a really good start so i can't wait to see how you progress with it

I see I'm not the only one who had his eye on Black Canary.

Ok I finished up with Black Canary. I went with a violet/gold complimentary color scheme, adding a lot of violet into the shadows and giving the highlights a warm yellow tone. Blending from violet to yellow produced some interesting tertiary colors (I think that's what they're called- I haven't been in an art class for a while) especially in the legs. I also went back and smoothed out my brush strokes on this one. I had fun with this it, hope you like it.

Edit: The quality of the thumbnails and smaller version is terrible so I'm just going to leave the full-size version up.

Looks like everyone was going for the canary lol
Yeah, it's a total sausage fest in here... are there any female colorists here? I guess there isn't really that much line art for the girls to oogle at. That's kind of the nature of comics as a whole though. Maybe that should be a theme for the next line art update?

A shot from 300 to color, bunch of beefy men in speedos and spears? ;p

More like Superman cleaning the dishes, or Green Arrow not turning to look at the hot waitress.

how did i know the boys would enjoy the Black Canary so? lol

it was probably the easiest lineart to color in that there isn't too much deal and cross hatching and stuff. the other two are more difficult imo

i kinda wish EdRyder would take a stab at the Thing piece. I'd really love to see what he can work up with some textures

It would have to have Lois watching him so it can count, because if they get done while the woman/mom isn't there, it doesn't count ;p

Made an attempt at The Thing....

NEW LINEART

Hope everyone had a great New Years. That being said, this will be the first new linearts posted in 2009. With that in mind, i selected images from the 3 BIG comic book movies of 2008; The Dark Knight, Iron Man, and The Incredible Hulk. Hope you guys enjoy!

First off, Hulk

Three great picks for the first line art of 2009. I may have to have a go at all three. I might have to put finishing Black Canary on holf to tackle Batman.

I just had to try this one. I used multiple brushes on this and have about four layers of colors. I like the out come.

it looks like you aren't making the most of the light source and the potential contrast of light and dark.

i imagine the walls to be a clinical white look, see what i mean...

I really didn't see the walls as clinical white when I first looked at it. What I saw was a dark room devoid of light, very dirty and unfriendly. But I can see your point too. It does have a Saw 1 room look to it. Thanks for the input.

Why would the walls be white when the tiles are obviously old and not looked after? they have massive cracks in them if anything the lightest would be dirty grey
