he doesnt even look to wet.
they just used waaay to much specular on the skin.it should be a subtle effect.

well i'll say let's wait till the movie is out, then we can judge the CGI, since they are probably still working on it....I think it will improve mayeb not a whole lot, but it will...I hope...

It reminded me of an Xbox 360 game. Their game models have a habit of being too...shiny.

In fact this Hulk reminded me more of a Beowulf-like CGI character than a real person. It looks great and all but still...

who said i was talking about you?
hhhh:huh:

you think you are the only one talking about the changes from the sueprbowl spot until the theatrical trailer?

I started that topic and since you didn't address your comment, it is most logical that you were talking to me.

The CGI on the trailer is, well, crapola. Hope it gets better on the finished movie.

The CG is not THAT bad. It's just not amazing. It all comes down to the skin texture--he looks a bit too matte and rubbery.

If this was the first Hulk movie ever made it probably wouldn't have stood out so much for me, but the Hulk in 2003 looked much better and that was 5 years ago. So they have a lot to live up to when its finally finished.

"Not that bad" is not good enough.

And Abomination looks like Dante from LXG.

I wasn't real into the 2003 version of the Hulk, to be honest.

I can at least get behind the *design* of this one, even if they haven't reached perfection yet. And yeah, Abomination works for me as well.

It all boils down to the story and performances for me. If those are strong enough, I'll forgive the CG for not being better than the best out there. It just has to be engaging, IMO.

well I thought that's what he does before everybattle???!!! So you are telling me the Hulk doesn't oiled up?!!! DANG!:woot:

;)

On a serious note, does anyone have a side-by-side comparison of Ang Lee's CG Hulk and Ed Norton's CG Hulk? That might be interesting to see.

CG could be better....I hope they work on it because it's not as spectacular as it could be...What's the budget on this movie, anyway?

No body builders please. CGI really is the only way for Hulk to work Bubonic.

Definitely not what I'd want for a Hulk movie, just tried to throw a workable idea there if he ever has millions of dollars and wants to remake it.

i don't see anything wrong with the CGI. I think because since Hulk is such a beloved character, people are a little bit more concerned then...let's say the awful CGI in "I Am Legend". Seriously, that movie had terrible CGI.

I keep hearing about this bad "I Am Legend" CGI, anyone care to post a screencap, I'm really curious.

It was pretty bad... but the movie still did well for itself which proves everyone NOT going on these types of forums (which are composed of roughly 1% of movie goers,) didn't give a rats behind.

i don't know if any of you are familiar with cgtalk.com or cgsociety, but it's a forum where many professional and aspiring cg artists go to talk about computer generated imagery. it seems like a good chunk of them actually prefer Ang's Hulk to what they saw in the TIH trailer.

sometimes you see even CGI artist that worked on thise blockbusters.but tehre are stilll a lot of people who know nothing about CGI so you can not take everyone serious.

Seems like many in general liked the first film over TIH trailer rather than simply critquing CG.

Also, one post drew my attention as it's what I've said far to many times and people simply skip over

since i spend hrs and hrs a day staring at every pore on these dude's faces...i can assure you, as a very intense critic of CG...this version and the last are in different leagues. The previous, done by ILM, was done exactly as the art directors intended. Same with the current one. there really isnt a need to debate the differences.

i can say this, this CG is good, and as most characters that are green/fake/slimey/etc....people will love them and hate them.

its a comic book movie! enjoy all the action, and i can assure you, you havent seen anything yet!

You make a good point but that guy is probably oiled up to hell 'n back. :oldrazz:Which I guess works if the Hulk is wet or oiled himself up before dropping out of the helicopter.

Wouldn't that be a weird scene?

Bruce-"OK, boys, oil me up! I want the Hulk looking nice and shiny!"

To be honest, a professionals pov isn't always a good reflection on what the general public's pov will be: A pro, or even an aspiring pro working with the same or similar tools used to create this new Hulk, will look at it and see things (good or bad) that the average Joe simply won't. In some ways their insight to the process can serve as a hindrance to simply sitting back and taking the thing in for what it's meant to be: A visual spectacle, not a 101 object lesson in 3D graphics.

As far as how the general public will see this? Remains to be seen, but from showing the trailer to my family last night the immediate reaction was a positive "That's more like it!"

But wouldn't any expert think something finished looks better than something not finished?
A judge would probably prefer a completed meal to one that's only half-cooked, right? Especially when the "chefs" are the caliber of ILM and Rhythm & Hues.
