= HULK

ya no **** he looks like he would whip 08 hulk there. One huge difference between the two is the size of his head. It was really overexagerated on this hulk.

yeah now looking back hes head was maybe a little to big. but it could be that the new hulk will have a to small head.

The problems I had with ang's hulk didn't have to do with the CG, I think problems with story are much more important than problems with CG...

The new hulk looks better, the skin, although abit shiny, looks more thicker & tougher than Ang's... & he doesn't look like a chubby green man, he looks like the hulk...

The CG for Ang's hulk was no doubt some of the best I've seen, but I still hated the movie, I don't watch films for the CG, I watch them for what they are, more people should do that IMO...

A comp shot with slightly more similar lighting, although I didn't know how to shrink the new screencap without compressing the image a bit, so it doesn't look as crisp and smooth as it should.

Personally, I don't think they invite much comparison; they seem to be going for two entirely different things. '03 went for the big green guy effect but it looks to me as though the new version is trying for the "monster" look. Even with the effects unfinished, the skin texture looks far tougher and more leathery, almost like a dinosaur hide. Bit of a departure, but I think it's a pretty decent idea.

Never had a problem with the actual CGI of the first (although those boxers look a bit ropey :oldrazz:), but two areas in which I think it failed were the shade of green - ripped straight form the comics, it just didn't work. On film I think it needs to be a darker, more reptillian shade - and Ang Lee's terrible mo-cap. In the first transformation scene in the lab I thought it looked like a cartoon, but it was only when I watched the behind-the-scenes stuff that I realised ILM were not to blame; Lee was throwing himself around like he was having some kind of fit and I think at times the movie suffered for it.

I love the shot in the new trailer of Hulk limbering up and rolling his shoulders in preparation for the fight. Only thing I'm not too keen on is the luminescence of the eyes of both Hulk and Blonksy. They need to be dulled down about because they look a bit too artificial and vacant.

This is a stupid discussion to have at this time. We have finished film FX vs. a trailer, gee, of f'ing COURSE the finished film will look better. I know some of you are eager to tear this film down with your insight, knowledge, and educated opinion about CG FX. But Ang Hulk, as of Right now, had the best FX. That may be different in a few month, or it may still be true. One thing that is a definate, the two cannot be judged side by side right now, outside of design. The physics, texturing, compositing, and lighting are still being tweaked. And those are the very things that the Ang Hulk excelled at.

Wow, awesome work with the pics sir. You hit the nail on the head about Ang's Hulk being more of a "big green guy" and Leterrier's Hulk being more of a "monster" which has me stoked. Good to point out the much more subdued green hue of 08 Hulk. Leterrier addressed this in an interview and I believe it's the right way to go in not making him so bright green. Also thank you for addressing the horrid child-throwing-a-tantrum mo-cap provided by Ang himself that I think many overlook. Regarding 08 Hulk, the "preparing for battle" boxer-style shoulder shrug Hulk does in the new trailer is one of those little touches that really sells it for me and shows me that this Hulk is pissed and ready to throw down. I bet that little move is a direct Norton mo-cap as he brought a similar sense of physical menace in American History X, as well as the fact he's stated in interviews that he would inform the performance of Hulk.

ang's shot moves and feels better, liked the general proportions of his body, maybe a lil too baby faced but he moved with great fluidity and motion

this hulk is too tight with a small toned chest, although he comes across as pumped, he doesn't necessarily look strong. Everyone knows that to get tight skin, you need to reduce your water content and a body builder is at their weakest when they are performing but people think strength means ripped. There's a lack of education when it comes to strength.

so yeah, new hulk looks meaner but he does look like ang's could ***** slap him, run tails around him and pretty much demolish him in any combination of encounters. He's too ripped and his movements at this time (as well as abominations) are very low par. I can imagine him having trouble picking up a car, let alone swinging a full tank a mile on sand. Hancock looks like he could knock him out in a single punch.

lol. why are people only using selective shots from a 2 hour film for comparison, there are thousands of hulk shots to use and these are the only ones that come up.

i could pick bad shots in every cgi film since the dawn of existence to make any sort of case i want.

instead of looking at screen caps, compare the fluidity of motion in the actual vids. it is afterall a FILM.

This new Hulk looks more like the classic comic book Hulk, I can't imagine anyone having any problems with the look. Considering technology has only improved since the first movie I'm sure this Hulk will look just fine. The real concern should be character and plot; can't wait to see it this summer.

I was wondering about one little detail of the new Hulk. Why does he have these Edith Piaf eyebrows?

I think that shot in the trailer is absolutely awful. The face is completely devoid of life, the pose looks awkward and the movement is jittery. Everything else in the trailer actually looks pretty good. Even though it is unfinished, it worries me that Leterrier classed that shot as 'decent' enough to use not only for the trailer, but the first full shot of the Hulk we see.

He probably chose it because it looked cool and showed the Hulk all pissed off and ripped and about to duke it out with Abom.

Iron Man had a similar odd looking scene in the end of the SB trailer, yet it was fixed by the time the trailer's debut on Lost.

people are saying that the old hulk had a bright green color and hte new hulk doesnt.
until now we only saw him in dark light. plus the concept pic.

the green will be brighter at daytime.

*sigh*... i'm one of the biggest supporters of Ang's Hulk, even i agree that the new Hulk looks like the comic version, alot of people who like Ang's Hulk share the same opinion, its just that he doesnt look real, his skin doesnt look right, Ang's Hulk (even though he looked nothing like the comic book version) looked real, his overall look was perfect when the CGI was done right, like in the desert sequence or in the dog fight or when he's face to face with David. Before AD starts saying his fav line, yes, its unfinished, i know that, but most a$$holes who say that this makes 03's Hulk look like a comic strip dont seem to know that.

I wouldn't say the new Hulk doesn't look real, just that they need to work a little harder on the CGI before the movies release. I want this movie to leave the 2003 movie in the dust and the only thing left for it to do that is for the CGI to be a little better.

I don't think it will be as bright a green, though. Less saturated.

I don't think this version of the Hulk has a light green color scheme, he has a dark green color scheme. No matter if it's day or night, he's going to have dark green skin, the game alone proves that.

The colour in the game is by no means a dark green. It's just not a bright green.

It's nice that you picked a picture where the Hulk is draped in shadow, but no, its not dark green. In fact its just as light as Ang Lee's Hulk in my opinion. Its just not as bright and has a tinge of brown.

Don't get me wrong, its a great colour for the Hulk.

The more I look at the 2003's Hulk scenes, the more the color bothers me in most scenes. It's too much of a light green while the new Hulk's color is perfect.

Btw, I kind of enjoyed the Hulk growing in size. I'm not saying that it needs to be in this movie (it'd be somewhat cool if it were & he grew a few more feet) but everything's good as is.

I posted this in the manips thread, but here's an accurate look at what sort of green Hulk will be. All I did was remove the orange caused by the flames, no new green was added:
