No, actually the classic design is perfectly justifiable using the very same logic that justifies the equally unrealistic design of the Abomination we have now.

Some people don't realise this, it could've easily been explained, LL just didn't want to, he wanted his own abomination followed with it's own explanation.

Personally I've come to like the idea of the gamma bringing out different evolutionary states, hulk being neanderthal, Abomb going further back to our fish days and leader going forward, can't remember who had this idea but it would've worked perfectly.

I still think the change for the Abomination was for the better, at least for this universe. However, for all we know LL could be planning to make him become more like the classic Abomination in the sequel if he happens to return and there's no problem with that. Btw, I think Norton is new to the Hulk but he probably didn't want to disappoint fans by just going out there and saying "Yeah, I'm not really a big fan of the Hulk, I just got the role because it sounds cool."

thats stupid IMO, if he really did that, i'd be very disappointed, i dont expect everyone in hollywood to know the character, he could have just said "actually, i didnt grow up reading the comics but when i read the script, i loved the idea of Bruce trying to play god and getting cursed because of it. I loved what the Hulk represents. The idea of someone like this being inside a guy who's completely opposite to what Hulk is." or something like that. I dont doubt that Norton gets Hulk or Bruce, lieing like that is what upsets me.

Of course the original Abomination doesn't work, hell, it really shouldn't work in the comics either. Then again, that goes for many other characters. Where would the scales come from and the fish-like ears? Too much consumption of fish sticks? It's all about logic sense in the end.

*sigh*... Abom old look could have been explained by them trying to recreate what Bruce did but they added a few things in there to keep him a Hulk like creature 24/7. And no, doing this wont make people think of the old movie, the big green guy will already do that.

It's really sad how fans not only justify needless changes, but expect them.

They weren't needless. They improved upon the originals.

but they didnt, they completely changed it, there's a difference, if they improved it, they would have added things to his origin, they would have come up with a different version of his look, they would have added more story to his character as a whole. They didnt, they went "screw it, lets just change the guy to suit our story insted of going the other way". Do you know his origin? Aboms' origin was made for the big screen, his design was nothing short of greatness.

How can you say this needed improving?

Obviously.

True, I was just trying to help avoid any unpleasantness. Your statement that they they improved over the originals, without any qualifying "imo", reads as a statement of fact, one that is a particularly big red rag to a bull to many a comic book fan. Even more so when you don't say why you think what was done is an improvement.

For the record, I do know what you meant, but having been pulled up myself in the past for this kind of thing it really doesnt hurt, nor take much extra effort, to just add that little 'imo' (imo:cwink:).

Because it looks like a giant fish-man monster with a pineapple for a head and stupid looking ears... dar liomsa :D

Your totally missing the point. ^^ The above pic is identified from Hulk Fans as the Abomination. For almost 40 years, give or take thats what the character looked like. The movie design is okay for some created generic man-brute for a movie, but it's not the Abomination. Those of you cheerleading the change dont get why some of us get so angry with you, but you dont appreciate the character.

I'm not missing the point and I do appreciate the character. That is the Abomination I have grown up with. And it has looked stupid to me since I was a child. You are missing the point that most of the people who watch this film will never have heard of Abomination before.

Okay, just so you know, the bolded comments directly CONTRADICT each other.

You shouldn't say you appreciate the character then slam how he's been depicted since before you we're born. Makes no sense.

I'm not going to take an oxymoronic English lesson from a guy who has said "I seen", but anyway, they don't contradict each other. If you could read you would see that I said I appreciate the CHARACTER, not the DESIGN.

Don't get snippy (and point out grammar etiquette on the internet) because I pointed out that you say you appreciate the character, but you thinks he looks stupid (your own words). It's not like you said you don't understand why he looks like that, you just think he looks stupid. Poor choice of words?

Like I said earlier, some of you don't understand why we get angry with you, this is a perfect example. If you say you like a character, dont use words like stupid, idiotic, moronic, ******ed, f'ed up, ghey, ect. to describe any aspect of said character on a board full of fans.

First of all, what the hell is "ghey"? Secondly, you've written alot there, but with no actual content. Are you saying that if I respect the character of a monster I must, by extention, love the design?

First one, take out the H and you get a word schmucks throw around to lightly.

Second, if you say you like the Abomination, dont call the look he's had since inception as "Stupid". Especially when your surrounded by people who love how he looks (for 40 years) and consider that the Abomination.

I agree.. with...(can't believe I'll say this) shivs, on ONE thing... you hear that Shivs? Only one.

I've always loved Abomination, but many designs including the original, I have hated.

I can have a friend, and not think she's hot. So I can also like Abomination and not think his design blows me out of the water. Granted a few interpretations I have thought were pretty freaking cool, but for the most part I always found him a "meh" looking character.

But still Frost, THATS the Abomination. The Hulk has so many superstrong Bad Guys of all shapes, sizes, colors, and textures over the years. There is only one Abomination.

The fact that Marvel was cool with production artistic interpretations on that character considering other characters that fit the role better (notably Pratt and Flux) shows me that they are not looking for good translations of their material.

Isn't Avi Arad still listed as a producer on this? That would explain it.

Yes, I know, I said I wasn't agreeing with anything else. I don't support changing him at all.

I am just saying I was never keen on the design, that doesn't mean I want it to go for the mounds of fans that have loved the interpretation since inception.
