Hadn't seen a thread for this and have never made one before, so here we are. I thought we needed a place to discuss the Infinity Stones themselves, as they're going to become more prominent pretty soon. We've already seen four of them, and what they can do:

Space
Reality
Power
The Mind

So that just leaves Time, and The Soul. In the comics, Warlock had the Soul Gem in his forehead, an idea they kinda used for Vision. How and when will the other two gems come into play? What exactly will they be able to do? I think out of everything going on in the MCU, the Infinity stones interest me the most. What does everyone else think?

All of them can probably shoot some type of beam and are incredibly dangerous to touch without protection of some sort. Time will obviously control time, I can see that in either Doctor Strange or Gaurdians 2, maybe Thor Ragnarok. The Soul Gem, is harder to imagine, it'll likely be able to either control somebodies life force(kill them, revive them, make the immortal).

That one can be in actually any of the future films.

Since they will bring in magic to a whole different degree with Doctor Strange I think that's a fairly likely movie to have introduce the soul gem.

For the time gem is harder. The only thing I can think of that could fit time manipulation is Ragnarok, if there's some form of reset going on, but it's a shaky connection.

Rangnarok would make sense for the time gem. Doctor Strange and the soul gem is obvious.

The problem I have with Doctor Strange having the soul gem is the same problem I have with Vision having the mind stone. Eventually, Thanos will likely collect all the infinity stones, which would make Strange useless if the soul gem was the source of his power. Besides, the best way to explain away Strange's power to transport to parallel dimensions would be the tesseract, not the soul stone. Doctor Strange having magic powers without the help of an infinity stone is just fine.

I think the soul gem will show up in Guardians of The Galaxy 2 and the time stone will possibly show up in Doctor Strange.

Why does Doctor Strange have to have the Soul Gem himself? Maybe one of his villains has it to gain extra power like Dormammu. Sme if the Time Gem is in Strange, maybe one of the villains has it. The villains always have the gems. But regardless of where the gems end up, I'm excited to see how the last two are implemented.

I don't think he meant that Dr Strange well have the Soul Gem as the source of his power. Maybe I misread, but what I got from it was that Strange should encounter the gem in his movie, not use it as a power source. I also wouldn't be happy if Strange needs the gem for his power.

I just can't wait to see someone wield multiple stones. Vision can easily handle his, and the Guardians were able to harness one with a group effort, I can't wait for the epic moment when Thanos shows no discomfort at using them.

Why do people think an infinity stone will turn up in doctor strange? Think the soul gem would turn up in gotg2 with warlock/magus. Can't see the point of the time gem with strange. Although if the time gem was the one in tdw and the reality gem was turning up in strange that would make sense. Odin said that malkeith wanted to take the world back to a time before light. Also when thor was fighting him they were going to places they had been before not changing reality.
Although the floating truck etc... Would point to reality gem.

Just hope the time gem is used well. The others haven't really had much chance to show their powers well.

I think we should also ask what are the two remaining stones encased in? All the stones so far have been encased in an object: the Tesseract, the Aether, the Orb, and the Specter.

So what objects would the last two be hiding in? For all we know the Soul stone may not even be with Adam Warlock and somewhere on Earth if not somewhere else in the galaxy. Hell, for all we know the Time stone could be in Wakanda.

Because Dr Strange had the soul gem at some point in the comics if I remember correctly. So people are assuming he might have it or the villain might have it like others have pointed out.

Um actually they all have shown their power and what they can do. The only gem I was a bit eh about was the aether. But yeah we tottaly saw what the gems can do so far in the MCU.

Except Malekith was going to use the Aether to turn the universe into nothing but darkness. Alter reality itself. While it may not have been executed in the movie properly, I'd say the Reality Gem is the most powerful out of the ones we've seen thus far.

Doctor Strange, Guardians 2 and Ragnarok seem like the most likely choice for the next stone to show up in.

I've kinda been wondering where they would show up too. Was it ever confirmed that the cocoon in GOTG was Warlock or is that just rumor? In my opinion it'd be a wrong move to not include Adam Warlock in the MCU, he's kinda the main player in both Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War. And then there's the Time Gem. I think it really wouldn't matter where it shows up, but I think it should be Guardians or Thor related, or even show up in Infinity War. Another big thing is going to be Thanos collecting them all. The Space Gem's in Asgard, the Reality Gem is still with the Collector (possibly), The Mind Gem is with Vision on Earth, and the Power Gem is in the hands of the Nova Corps on Xandar. Can't wait to see Thanos take em all, especially the Mind Gem, that's gonna be interesting.

It was never confirmed but RUMORS say that Magus is Peter Quill's Dad so my guess is that it has to be Warlock on Knowhere

What?

Magus, not Warlock? Where is this rumor?

Not sure now, been awhile since I read it. STILL only a RUMOR.

Makes sense in a few ways. Pete is a good guy not at all like Magus could be why he was bountied...to eliminate him.
Warlock is SUPPOSED to appear when there is a dire COSMIC event, kind of hard to put a bounty on your son's head from inside a cocoon.

Just saying, rumors CAN make some sense but they ARE just RUMORS

The pirates were paid to deliver Quill to his father, not to be killed.

Didn't say KILLED, just elliminated. Doesn't mean they would need to kill him, just keep him from wandering around which they did for a few decades.

"Yeah, Quill turned out ok. Probably good we didn't deliver him to his dad like we were hired to."
"Yeah, that guy was a jackass."

There was no bounty or talk of elimination, their job was to deliver Quill to his dad. Granted, it is strange the Ravagers never came through on their job over the 20 years they had Quill, but that's on James Gunn.

I think it will be explained. Given that Gunn has said Vol. 2 is about "fathers" I think he had a vision already and kept it ambiguous on purpose. But yeah, I'd be kinda surprised if Magus turns out to be Quills dad. I had always assumed it would be Warlock, but that was just my opinion.

I have no doubt Quill's parentage will be explained. It is the whole reason the Ravagers went to Earth for Quill. I was only correcting Vartha's interpretation of the facts. No bounty, no elimination. The job was a simple retrieval and delivery which the Ravagers failed to do for some unexplained reason. That reason could be that Warlock has been in a cocoon and unable to receive delivery until a future date. The fact Quill was at the Collector's museum which housed Warlock's cocoon is an interesting coincidence.

I admit I am on the Starfox bandwagon however, thinking about the Ravagers failure just made the case for Warlock's potential fatherhood much, much stronger. Considering the rumor of Magus' involvement in GOTGv2, I would say the odds favor Warlock over Starfox. Writing all this out, I think I will have to bail on Starfox and join the Warlock Wagon. Magus doesn't seem to fit the description Quill's mother gave of her lover.

There is only one way I know for certain how to get to the bottom of who is Peter Quill's father? We need Maury Povich for a DNA test.

"The results are in, and Starfox, you are NOT the father!"

I would like to see that Warlock had the Soul gem all along and that Strange finds the Time gem in another dimesion (or in the Eye of Agamtto??).

When the power stone explodes in the Collectors ship in Gaurdians, Warlock's cacoon is open and Warlock is gone. Maybe his Soul gem coming in contact with the power gem explosion woke it/him up.

Any idea as to how they will get the stone from vision? Will he be killed by Thanos in order to retrieve the stone?

Thanos should kill him when he retrieves it, but I can imagine that they might find something to replace the infinity gem with so he can live again.
