Ok folks the moral question that the joker was putting out was that society are only as heroic as situations let them be, I am just curious how many people agree and what would you have done in a situation similair to the boat scene. Would you have killed the criminals or left things alone and hope they dont blow you to hell?

I honestly believe that one boat would blow up the other. I really don't think anyone would really vote to have themselves blown up by not doing anything

yea i thought that obnoxious guy on the civilian boat was actually going to do it. i would of done it!

I thought that part of the movie was anti-climactic. I was waiting for one boat to blow and when none of them did, it was like "Eh...and now?"

Maybe this part of the movie was to show The Joker that not all of humanity is capable of what HE is capable of.

So in retrospect, I guess I didn't have a problem with it.

yea thats exactly what happened. Batman was telling Joker when neither of them pushed the detonator something like "What where you tryin to prove? That everyone is psychotic like you?"

But I wouldn't be on the boats now would I?
yea but, would you really be comfortable knowing you were responsible for hundreds of deaths? plus you dont know how it wouldve exploded. it could started inside slowly giving you time to swim away or just instantly exploding which in that case you probably wouldnt survive.

....ya.....I could live with that!

Jk, I couldn't press the button either

i wouldve pressed it.
If i was a convict, i wouldn't have a moral conscience. (i just know i wouldn't)
As a civilian, id be like "F them, they chose the path of violence and crime. Blow them up!

Yeah I was kind of dissapointed with that scene as well because in real life you know someone would do it, I think in the end though no one did it because they were cowards and were afraid to kill. When they were all voting it was clear the majority wanted the other boat blown up but when it came to it no one had the balls to do it despite there desire to.

So everyone jumps out of the boat at the same time.

This is where the realism premise falls apart. There's no way someone would not have blown up the prisoners.

Have you seen the Titanic:woot:, nah seriously its an impossible feat and most would likely die takes to a bundle and build up. You have to remember the joker was watching so if they attempted anything then boom.

Yes but they resided thing's to a vote and the vote came out as the majority wanting to blow up the criminals.
yeah, well most people are cowards and wouldnt do it. like you said.

It's sad that people would not blow up the ship due to cowardice as opposed to the moral ramifications

No faith in humanity?????????

History is chock full of events were people, governments, countries have all acted in self interest sometimes destroying entire civilizations in the process. Technology, customs, laws have all changed over time but the one constant that remains is human nature. I know what Nolan was going for but it was unrealistic. At least one person on that boat if not more would've chosen to detonate the prisoners.

I was kind of hoping he would and it'd end up being their boat. lol.

That's mean, i shouldn't think that.
