The Last House On the Left Remake Trailer and Stills

Ok, why am I so late on these things. I LOOOOOOOOOVE Dillahunt. Seriously, that man can act his behind off and he ALWAYS delivers.

Deadwood
No Country for Old Men (a non antagonist/scary mf'er part, finally)
Assassination of Jesse James
Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
ER
Life
too much other stuff to name

Also upcoming
Last House (duh)
The Road!!!

I can't wait to see this! I saw the last one and in all honesty, it was a good story, that was filmed horribly. I've seen other low budget 70's filmed and Last House was overall amateur work. If this one fixes those things that went terribly wrong with the first one, like lighting, music, cameras, editing and other basics, I wont have a problem with it.

Oh here's a goodie from the youtubes. I don't know about you but I really learned something about Dillahunt in this. The dude is a hot sweaty beast and is totally doable.

Ooooo

This looks horrible.

Seeing 15 TV spots a night doesn't help either.

According to the review at Scifi.com, the director got the point of the original. So I guess it's the first decent horror remake in American cinema. Too bad it's a film that shouldn't need to resurface. I'll watch it anyway.

The Hills Have Eyes and The Ring were great, I'd rank them well above their originals, the new F13 is one of my favorite if not my favorite Jason films, TCM03 doesn't touch the original but it's a good Hollywood slasher...I'd hardly consider this the first decent American horror remake if it's as good as it looks.

Yeah, I wouldn't say its the first one at all either.

I'm prolly gonna go see this tomorrow afternoon then.

I don't care much for "The Hills Have Eyes". Most slasher & gore remakes don't impress me. I place "The Ring" as a separate type of remake because it's originally Japanese. Heck, I think the Japanese version was way better because of the cultural aspects. The kid in the American version was too creepy to sympathize with. No, I'd rather focus on remakes of American horror.

I've zero interest in the latest remake. I've zero interest in the Wes Craven version either. That said, Ingmar Bergman's THE VIRGIN SPRING which inspired THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT is a terrific film and well worth seeking out.

Ingmar Berman was a genius. Mature film lovers should check out his work. But that's not to say the concept should not be applied to modern times.

I'm probably going to go and see this tonight after work. Looks good.

The reviews tore this one a new *******. Yeah, my night will probably be spent trying to convince my friends not to drag me to see this.

I cared as much about the victims in THHE as I ever have in a horror film, it's as atmospheric as movies get, and the gore was no more or less than what fit the subject matter. It's one of my favorite horror/survival films, and films in general.

I think Ringu was good, The Ring was far better in every possible way from atmosphere to performances to characterization to suspense to visuals to overall story structure.

Anyways, saw it early this morning, really liked it. It's void of the stupid out of place humor of the original, it's a much more technically well made film, and it's pretty visceral and intense despite
a few survivors that died in the original and an ending that feels a little too uplifting for this type of film.

Speaking of survival movies, I hope they never remake Deliverance.

I loved this movie,it's great. Good acting, good music, very brutal, very intense, good cinematography, sufficiently bloody and terror filled, very tension filled, very realistically grounded, and very violent. I really liked how everone was fractured within their minds... personally this is one of the top horror movie remakes that I have ever witnessed. :yay:

4.5/5 stars

That ending is partly what spoils the American remake. Technical advances don't mean much for the subject matter. It's all flash, which is really the only thing going for American horror now. All flash. That's what makes The Hills Have Eyes no more successful than the remakes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or that other movie, "Wrong Turn".

I'll have my review up likely tomorrow night.

Preview: I liked it.

I don't consider far better acting and music, or an absense of idiotic, misplaced music and humor to be "all flash," it actually improved the overall tone.

I also don't consider caring far more about the characters, or much better cinematography that pulls me into the atmosphere, both of which make for a much more emotional and intense experience (which THHE had over its inferior predecessor) "flash" either.

If certain aspects border on incompetent and are done exceptionally well in another, that adds substance, not flash; and THHE06 hardly cops out as TCM03 and Wrong Turn did, which is one of the things that makes it far more successful.

i loooved this movie!!!

totally got me by surprise, i went in completely fresh.

the mom kicks ass.
my theater was cheering and roaring everytime she did something lol

probably my favorite horror flick of the year so far(and of some time)... and it really wasnt scary at all.

So, I guess this film seems decent enough to go see?
Its a okay movie, but it differs from the original alot in some spots.

But i didn't see what part, cause the screen all of a sudden had a black bar across the screen and the top was at the bottom and the bottom was at the top.

That kinda pissed me, that i had to leave the theater cause of some idiot.
