The Last House On the Left Remake Trailer and Stills

Saw it last night. This moive was pretty graphic. Quit a few people walked out during the rape scene but everyone was cherry loudly when the parents started getting thier revenge.

OMG seriously... i saw people walking out during the rape scene.

like common really?...sure they'll watch people being brutally killed but a rape is a no no?.. these are bad people...not angels lol

the most gruesom rape scene ive ever seen are probably the ones in Closure.. gillian anderson getting raped and her raping a guy with a rifle.

never saw the original ... never even heard of it til i saw this movie. lol

How brutal was the rape scene? Was it "original film" brutal?
To be honest, this was kinda more tamed down, from the original one.

Its like when the rape happen it was filmed from far away and you don't see nothing much, just him onto of her making noises.

the only thing i thought was worse this time is that the girls are younger looking so it's more disturbing. another thing is she reaches down to feel
for you know what and that made it grotesque. this movie might be tamer but i wouldn't discount this one.

I think I actually found the rape more visceral here than it was in the original, the stronger performances helped.

One thing i liked in this though, that the kid actually looked young enough to be Krugs kid.

While in the original the person playing his son looked old enough to be his brother instead.

And I kinda had a feeling the son would live and leave with the family.

Interesting. Well, I heard this film was good, so I HAVE to see it some time soon.

Yeah I dont think I want to see this movie. I saw the original and thought it was graphic, but it was also extremely corny (the two idiot cops added a lot of stupid stupid humor by today's standards).... but after reading Roger Eberts review and watching the video review at "At the movies" (google it, great site for video movie reviews).... I'm turned off on seeing this film. I am sure the reviews are what caused this movie to open at #3 at the BO.

I mean... I like horror movies.... but I hate "torture porn"... I dont shut my eyes or scream or cry or feel sick or anything.... but when I watch a "torture porn" - type horror movie I often find myself thinking "why am I watching this and what kind of an idiot decided this would be a good movie?" No offense to anyone who likes those films, but like the "At the movies" review guys said (Ben Mankiewicz and Ben Lyons)... I don't really understand why people see a movie where the selling point is watching a 17 year old girl get beaten and brutally raped and shot in the back in the most visceral and realistic way possible through the medium of film....

Is it the feeling of being disgusted? is that the feeling an audience member wants to feel?

disagrace?

feeling appalled?

what is the point of "torture porn"?

is the only point to shock?

I don't know. To me, movies have always been best when they uplifting (Shawshank Redemption, Rocky, etc.), Exciting, edge-of-your-seat rollercoster rides (the Dark Knight), suspenseful/thrilling (Silence of the Lambs, Se7en, etc)..... but I don't go to the movies just so I can feel evil and that's what "torture porn" makes me feel.... dirty... ("Hey guys, lets go see so-and-so film! It's got an awesome rape scene in it! woohoo!")

Greg

this isnt a torture porn its a revenge flick.... big difference sir

that would mean killbill is torture porn lol

I agree. This film theme predates torture porn.

The reviews I read from critics mostly said the first part of the movie is torture porn, and yes, the second half with the parents getting revenge is a "revenge flick". Regardless, that doesn't address my concerns about going to see a movie where torture and rape seem to be "scenes most talked about" and what emotions people enjoy feeling during those scenes and so on.

"Torture porn" has become of the most overused expressions in cinema discussion these days, and it rarely fits where it's used. A film featuring torture doesn't make it "torture porn."

Unfortunately that is what drives the plot of this movie. It's not supposed to tiptoe around the violence. There's nothing beautiful about it. I don't know what the creators want us to feel, but its frank approach to the subject matter is supposed to elicit a strong response. It's much simpler than "Se7en" and "Taken" because it goes straight to cause and effect of one horrible moment of violence.

seriously....

this movie isnt torture porn... period.

It's always been known as a revenge movie than "Toture Porn", Horror, or a Slasher flick.

So you don't like the rape scene but look at your choice of movies ...

Shawshank is depressing and includes a rape scene.. Rocky loses..
The Dark Knight was..Dark......Hannibal eats people.. and Seven has one of the most disturbing endings ever.

so what your saying is that violence is ok but not in the horror genre .

That's an interesting observation. Is it easier to get into movie violence when it's more fantastic? Does the audience prefer to watch Hannibal Lecter & Norman Bates over the people they're based on, like Ed Gein? Or Richard Speck?

Thank you!

This is just the typical revolution coming around again(with the Saw and Hostel films at least). We had those kind of exploitation horror flicks in the 70's and they were never called or dubbed "torture porn". With how fast things spread due to the internet, some fool dubs these recent exploitation films "torture porn" and everyone and their mother acts like it's a brand new thing and uses the term...but for all violent films.

Personally, I think it's one of the most incredibly stupid names mainly because I think the word porn should go back to being used just for X rated films.

As for this remake, I think I'll wait for DVD. I liked the original and wasn't too happy when I saw the trailers and realized the morons who cut trailers now days, once again put in too much.

Isn't it kind of dumb to show that the parents get revenge or that the killers happen to take shelter with them in the first place? Or the fact that it shows most of the revenge kills as well.

Reminded me of the trailers for that other remake. I can't remember the name, it's the one based on a scary story where the babysitter is told the prank caller/killer is calling from within the house. It was worthy of a huge forehead smack. They give away the ending practically the best thing about the story in the trailers, as if everyone has seen the original already.

Have a lot of you seen this already that have seen the original? Just wondering if it's a remake worth checking out or not. I've been extremely picky of horror in the past 5-10 years since it's my favorite genre and has been pumping out way too much crap lately.

I've seen it already and own the original.

It varys in some area's but not much. Just like changing of a name or so. Krug's kid isn't named Jr, he's named Justin. And something i liked in this film is the kid playing krus kid looks like he could actually be his son/ Unlike in the original the guy playing krugs son, looks more like his younger brother, then son.

And as far as the rape scene or the things that happen in the original. Not much really there except for the raoe of Mary. and the killing of Page was awfully quick, that is aafter she runs away and is then caught.

And the ending is a bit different. I don't wanna say anything else without spoling it. I think its a decent remake compared to the original. If your a fan of horror or revenge flicks then its worth the 2 hours.

That's the one!
I remember seeing that in theaters, someone has brought fried chicken with them and it was wrapped in foil.

Reason i know it was fried chicken i heard the person say pass me the friend chicken.

And they had a bag of chips also, the food that made the most noise they had with them.

Couldn't have been that good of a film if you mainly remember what kind of food the people near you were eating.

:hehe:
