The Leonidas Workout

Bloodthirsty much, spoons? :p

Haha . . . it has just occured to me. I can benchpress 300 [not the movie, pounds that is :yay:], although my max is 333 lbs.

Of course not, because most people stopped doing the workout after finding out doing 10 pushups was harder than they thought, much less 50 pushups.

I doubt they got that far! It calls for 25 pullups to start for God's sake!

I think I could do 10 chinups back when I was in high school.... I used to be able to do 150 pushups in reps of 10 before I blew my wrist out. :) :(

So far, so good. I ran through my modified routine a couple times this week. To CS, I am happy to report no injuries whatsoever. It's very taxing and I feel pretty beat afterward. Feels pretty good,

A nice article. Nothing revolutionary or new anywhere in it, but good for anyone who might have some misconceptions. Particularly those who are just developing an interest in fitness.

Yeah like every single one of these idiots who failed gym class but think they can do this "300 workout" and look like gods after a few weeks!
I just wanted to post that hoping a little reality will set in on these people.

Even so, I think it's important to encourage their initiative. Just make sure it's tempered with factual info.

I agree. Sometimes folks dive into a regimen they can't handle and give up altogether when they should just try slowly and build up gradually. :)

Even I can do 10 push ups and I'm old and arthritic. :p

Hey guys (and gals),

Just wanted to say that a. 300 was an awesome movie, and b. if you are seriously trying this workout cold turkey, you're an idiot.

Now, I said that to say this, I am an Exercise Physiologist at a local hospital and part-time personal trainer (side cash, you know?), and if you really want to get in THAT kind of shape, check out www.crossfit.com That website has a TON of daily workouts that mimic the kind of training the Spartans did for the movie, but in a more toned down *realistic* manner. Now, the workouts are still gonna be hard as poop, but you cant just do the "300" over and over and expect results. The guys training never did the same workout twice during their 7 months. Routine is the enemy, variety is the key to getting great results.

Also, they had very good nutritionists on staff to make sure they got adequate nutrients, but that was it. They weren't fed to be like a normal american, they were somewhat "starved" to achieve that look. THey also had massage therapists on staff each day to help them recover from the workouts.

Anyway, good luck with your training. www.gymjones.com is the gym they trained in. Lots of cool info their.

Yes 25 pullups is insane and takes alot of time and effort. It took me many weeks to work up to ten when I was taking PE in high School. Fifty pushups is easy in comparison. I could do one arm pushups in HS.
