The Leonidas Workout

rowr! :p *squeekness approves*

Wow, great job man. You look well balanced as well-traps, chest, abs, arms & shoulders all look very good!

Thank You Squeekey [are You a girl? Crosses fingers]. :cwink:

Thank You mrvlknight21, I've learned from Arnold, he's put balance up there . . . as in an important factor to "pumping iron".

It's not a good idea to spend more than 90 minutes at the gym if you're just lifting.

If trimming down is what you're looking for, then it sounds like it's time for you to enter your "cutting" phase. More cardio and less lifting. Do some internet searching on it, and bodybuilding.com has some great forums as well

Not quite, you shouldn't spend any less time pumpin iron when you're cutting. Just do more cardio.

Well he said he wants to trim down before he works on gaining muscle  And he says he only has 4 days a week in which to work out. But you'd know better than I would.

Cardio can decrease muscle mass too, so you need to keep your lifting constant so you don't burn fat AND muscle

hmm, I have been trying workouts at home on and off for a while now. Mainly just pushups, situps and such. I wanted to see how much muscle I could gain doing these, with out the need for gym equipment. I think I might apply these to the 300 rep work out... i dunno how much good that would but.. eh.

Thats why short, high intensity "cardio" (like sprints) is best for fat loss without sacrificing muscle (like long slow distance can).

A lot of people don't. I've had more than one person question me when the answer is right there. Maybe they just din't believe me.... :p

You'll get ripped, but You won't get big, without weights. Plus, You'll have to eat a little bit more, if You lift heavier :cwink:

Yeah, sorry Squeeky, I've just now noticed Your siggy  :yay:

^^ lol, s'okay. :D

And you're right, you really need the weights to get big, but really, any workout that doesn't have a combo of cardio and weights seems a bit lopsided to me. :)

i rather learn about how they got thicker, not buffer. i want thick not just lines everywhere...

I had to modify it as follows due to the availablity of equipment i have at home and a back/shoulder injury:

*Instead of 25 pull ups, i do 25 chin ups
*I perform the 50 deadlifts with 135lbs (as listed)
*I peform the 50 push ups (as listed)
*I perform 50 jumps, but instead of a 24 inch box, i did it with an 18 inch
aerobic stepper box cause that's all i have.
*I perform 50 floor wipers (as listed)
*I Perform 25 kettlebell single clean-and-press with my right arm, but due
to an injury, i can only do 15 with the left arm.
*Then lastly, 25 more chin ups.

O.K. It's the third time i've completed MY MODIFIED VERSION of the workout, and for some reason it gets harder everytime i do it. Instead of doing the full set of Kettlebell clean-and-presses (25), i could only do 15. And i still can't do it all the way through. I take 1 minute breaks inbetween each exercise. I plan on doing this at least twice a week. That along with my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training should keep me in top form...

Maybe it's just your body trying to adjust to the routine. Maybe you'll struggle for a week and then do better. It's a hard workout no matter what, really.

Yeah. The hardest part for me is definately the deadlifts. I don't know if it's a physical or psychological problem. I start to really get the burn at around 30. Once, i did 50 deadlifts with the same weight, with relative ease on a day i wasn't doing the entire workout, and sure it was hard, but not nearly as hard as when i do the entire workout.......

..........so, o.k, i just answered my own question-it's psychological. The knowledge that i've got alot more exercises to go while i'm doing the deadlifts causes my body/mind to say-oh, ****!

I see, I think i'll try it anyway.

Also did Butler do this training every day??

Much obliged to the both of you. CS, do you have some background in this kind of thing? Just curious...

Ok, i've read the posts and i gotta say im interested in giving it a shot but i have two (relitivley stoopid) questions.

1) what is a 'kettlebell single clean-and-press' cause i have noooooooo idea at all.

2) Dead lifts (i assume) are just picking the weights up off the floor, lifting the up and above your head and then back down to the floor and repeated for the desired number of reps?

Thanks for your help in advance guys its just that those two left me scratching my overly developed white-fro in confusion.

It sounds like you do not have a lot of experience in working out. If that is the case, DO NOT TRY THIS WORKOUT! You want to amend it a great deal, then maybe. But you really need some strength and conditioning base before even thinking about this. Can you get 25 pullups? 50 pushups?
Anyways, if you are set on doing some form of this overhyped workout-here are videos of kettlebell clean and press and deadlift video (you were wayyyy off on your guess of this).

Wow, those both look like an excellent way to throw your back out. :D Especially if you are old and creaky like me.

Still, deadlifts are excellent for overall body strength. One of my personal favorites,
