The Lonely Man theme.

?

Should the Lonely Man theme be used in The Incredible Hulk?

  1. Yes.

  2. No.

  3. Make it updated, more of a choir-type song.

  4. Use the piano version and a choir song!

They have to. And the choir idea is horrible. The piano itself is haunting and..Lonely. That's the point.

    Yes.

Maybe a little more modern touch..

Like in Spider-Man 3,when they used the classic theme on that celebration.

Give that on the ending or something!

I believe it's already been announced that it will be in the movie.

I think they are playing the Lonely Man theme with violens in this movie instead of pianos.

They should stick with just the lone piano.

An orchestra would ruin it in my opinion. It is called "The Lonely Man", a lone piano suits it very well. An orchestra would take it's effectiveness away.

I've heard it on just piano a million times. I'd like to hear something a little bigger from a movie, "Lonely" theme or no.

I dunno... An entire crescendo in some scene will make it really dramatic

Nah, that would miss the point.

The piano on it's own is what gives the piece it's lonely feel.

I reckon they should just leave it as a solo piano piece, or if they have to change the instrument- I would go with a solo violin version.

Orchestras score every Superhero film, heck it's getting pretty boring!

    Really?

Cool. That makes sense. Especially considering what they are going for with TIH.

Piano version is classic. A choir version or whatever ... I would have to hear it to really judge. But I dont see how it could really greatly improve upon the simple, yet highly effective piano "Lonely Man" theme.

Exactly. And at the closing scene of the film, before the credits roll. That is the only time I'd like to hear it. That's the appropriate place for it to be a sweet little surprise. If you start saying you want a violin version here and an orchestra version there...again you will diminish it.

    Best version I've heard.

I loved all of the television shows music. I thought that it caught the emotion of each thrilling scene well. I hope that they use Lonely Man in the movie, especially at the end with a build up to Hulks new theme music. My hopes at least.

Everyone will geek out when they hear this on the movie. If there are twon things I definitely want from the TV show, it's the sympathetic Bruce Banner and that theme.

Everyone talks about the Lonely Man theme, but the intros mesmerizing piano and horns gave dimension to the show. One of the best intros to any show ever. The Hulk's roars and growls were awesome, especially the last one.

I agree. The opening theme was great. I have mentioned this elsewhere, but I never realized up until a few years ago that in that first opening shot of the flashing warning light, the word "ANGER" is zoomed out to become "DANGER".

I think it might be cool if they made like a...you know...Death Metal version of it. Yeah, you know, 'cause da Hulk is big and heavy...just like heavy metal.

Or maybe they could sample the Lonely Man theme and Bill Bixby's voice saying, "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry" and have some kind of kool hip-hop club-mix ramalamadingdong version done by Soulja Boy or someone equally hip, original, intelligible, and just downright delightful.

OR! Maybe they could just take the old music...paint it brown...remove its scales...take off its ears...and have its notes on the outside of its body! BINGO! GENIUS! BRILLIANT!

    Heh.
    Seriously.
    Could you imagine?

I would be totally pumped if they just kept the same classic music untouched and showed Ed Norton hitchhiking off into the distance as the chilling single piano keys ran down your spine as the credits began to roll and then fade to black.

I love the TV series. I think the pilot is one of the best comic book movies ever made and has the seriousness, sensitivity and realism every modern superhero movie claims to have but don't actually. And the Lonely Man theme is one of the best things ever happened to the character.

But I consider that kind of winks do little for new versions.

I really rather have a new version based on the comics that holds the realism and sensitivity of the TV series more than copies of details such as the chair or the piano theme.

I think the piano theme will only serve as a reminder of a previous (popular) version of the character. But will do little to make this a unique movie.

    Look:

It's only that Raimi broke it. :)

*cringes before the awful memory of that*

I actually read your original post where you mentioned that and thought that that was a cool piece of trivia. Nice!
