I have never gotten the hate, I love both his music and his movies, I also got to touch his sweaty arms two summers ago

So far I've met him twice. Once at Ozzfest and once at a comic convention for House of 1000.

I would lower those expectations just a hair. I love Rob Zombie, I own everything the dude has ever done, but I keep my expectations just a tad lower than usual for his films. Putting Sheri Moon in the lead is very risky seeing as she's not a terrific actress. That said, The Lords of Salem does look to be his best work yet.

It got fairly good reviews out of Toronto, and even the negative reviews mostly didn't even mention Sheri Moon's acting as being particularly bad.

Yep. The reviews say she gives a good performance.

I thought she was pretty good as Michael Meyer's mom in RZ's first Halloween film as well.

Basically any role in which she doesn't laugh. She has the worst laugh. She's like a demonic Harley Quinn.

I haven't seen any reviews yet, but if people aren't tearing apart her acting then this movie has a real shot. That's the only part of this movie I was cautious about. Everything else looks balls to the walls amazing!

An excerpt from the Lords of Salem novel will be running in the March issue of Fangoria if anyone's interested.

The writer of the novel is a man by the name of Brian Evenson. I looked him up, he's had an interesting career. He used to be be a professor at Bringham Young University and a Mormon but he was excommunicated and forced out of his post for writing a violent novel. Interesting.

HD2 was very hit or miss, but I have high hopes for his new stuff. Fingers crossed.

Judging from many interviews leading up to this new album, I think even Rob Zombie himself was a little underwhelmed by HD2 or at least he felt something clicking in the studio this time that hasn't happened for him in a long while. He isn't one to go back and rip on his own work or apologize but he is very self aware about the quality of work that he puts out, especially with his music.

I was unaware that John 5 was composing the score for this. That's pretty awesome news.

There's been a ton of new reviews since SXSW.

Reactions about the same as out of TIFF, if not somewhat more enthusiastic.

The one thing everyone agrees upon is that it is obvious Zombie is trying something different.

I will watch this but the trailer didn't wow me like most. It definitley struck me as the same tone as a lot of 70's italian horror flicks for some reason which is a great thing. One things for sure Zombie's only good when he's doing original work.
