The Man Who Laughs is my favorite Joker story...Im totally getting this

Anyone know if the re-release of the Killing Joke is out yet?

Scheduled for the 19th. If there's a delay or a shortage, I'll flip out...more than usual.

19th as in, a week from tomorrow?

Was going to post about this earlier, but got distracted in some Punisher books.

I was at Borders today, checking out the newest issue of Rue Morgue, a really cool canadian horror magazine that Borders in America like to stock every so often. But towards the back, they had a brief review of the new Killing Joke hardcover with a picture of the new coloring. This is what i remember of it:

It's the big bottom panel of The Joker onces he comes out of the chemical river, grabbing his hair, laughing hysterically. The "HAHA"s are all white, as opposed to the shades of purple. The Joker's suit is all black as opposed to the blue, and i believe both the cuffs and cufflinks were different(solid white and another color). The biggest difference i noticed, and which was a bit more of an effective change...his eyes aren't bloodshot. They're white. And instead of water running off his eyes, it's blood.

It was pretty creepy looking, more so than the current version. Pretty cool too. Rue Morgue liked it.

Having blood pouring out of his eyes, just hearing that described, is amazing. It makes the chemical bath seem that much more painful. It messed him up so bad it made his frickin eyes bleed...I cant wait to pick this up tomorrow :joker:

hooooooolyyyyyyy hell! this recolor is brilliant!!! looove the use of black and white...alot better! god, this is gorgeous!!!

I got it today as well, and yes, the recoloring is fantastic. It looks much better, and fits the tone of the story much better, than the original. Especially the flashbacks. My god they're gorgous. If anyone wants, I'll throw up scans of a few of my favorite new pages so you can compare them to your originals...I may do that anyway.

Here are 3 pages from it...sorry about how they cut off, but it's not exactly easy to scan a hardcover...

That looks AMAZING!
So its out now?

yea i picked it up today too....it seems totally different now, its like reading the story all over again for the first time.....its awesome

Holy crap those new colors look awesome. I had no intention of picking this up before, but now I think I'm gonna have to.

Damn. I wasn't going to bother getting the Killing Joke because I have it in the collected works of Alan Moore, but now...the colour work here has changed my mind.

Still waiting for my Man Who Laughs HC to come in the mail...:(

Oh man, that looks astounding. I have this crappy Dutch-translated version with even more crappy colouring. I have to get this sometime.

I just bought THE MAN WHO LAUGHS and my problem is that the first 15 pages are the same.It goes normal from then on.
Did anyone else had the same problem?(printing error or it's just the unlucky me?)

That's weird was it still wrapped in it's cellophane when you got it? Looks like there are 14 people out there with their books missing those pages. :p

Hmm. thanks for the TKJ scans Joker.

I'm really not feeling those new colours at all. I tried to to like them but they just dont suit the story, they actually *detract* from the atmosphere I enjoy in the old edition. The old colours have a kind of feverish, hallucinatory madness to them, they make you feel anxious and edgy just looking at the page. Bollands colours are far to muted and sensible.

I'll probably buy it anyway :O

edit: wait- this is not the TKJ thread? ha ha *facepalm*

Yes it was! Here's the whole deal!
The first 15 pages are not missing! The book just begins three times you know!you go to page 1 of the story and page 2 is the cover! Then again 1-5 story and 6 cover!you know i was like OH COME ON!get on with it!
Well I suppose if it's just a printing error I'll sell it on e-bay for 2,000 dollars....

That...is awesome.

when i get home today, TMWL will be waiting.... he will greet me with a smile & then when i get out of my car & go into my house, HE WILL LAUGH because he is The Man Who Laughs

Just read TMWL yesterday (got in the mail from Amazon 3 days ago) for the first time and personally I gotta say it was AWESOME. Loved the artwork and the story and everything were really well done. My only complaint may be that the confrontation between the Batman and Joker in the end could of been a little more bada$$. But anyways GREAT comic...definitely worth the $$$.
