Joker's ladder too?

I watched the first movie again after watching the whole trilogy and it does seem quite different to the sequels. I think Reloaded especially just went overboard and in hindsight it probably should have been The Matrix and then a trilogy after it with Reloaded-Revolutions being spread over 3 movies.

But trilogy's were all the rage at the time and I still like Revolutions a good bit. It will be so interesting to see what the new movie has in store for us I have been spoiled with some stuff but am hoping for some surprises also.

See for me it is the opposite.

Reloaded only continues to appreciate for me. Personally the rave sequence even works for me and there is insane bravery in it's turn the whole heroes journey chosen one narrative on its head ending and it is a masterful cliff hanger.

It is Revolutions where I think it is bloated, badly paced and incredibly opaque and dull for the most part.

So why does he choose to look different when he goes inside whatever I assume the Matrix equivalent of this film? I know that he's under control of the A.I.s at the start who did this nanotech conversion thing to him.

he's not under the control of the AIs later on in the movie, only at the start. He is coded by Neo when Neo is stuck in the matrix with his memory wiped. Neo codes him with the memories of Morpheus which makes him Morpheus 2.0.

Later on, it is revealed that when the machine war ended after Revolutions, a number of sentient machines joined the human resistance. Io is a city where humans and the sentient machines both live in peace together and the machines are helping humans set up the city and grow crops and stuff.

Morpheus in the nano form in the real world is one of those sentient machines working with humans

Revolutions is a good 15 mins shorter than Reloaded isn't it? For me Reloaded has too many slow parts which just drag, the action is good but goes on too long half the time. And then the exposition scenes are simultaneously too long yet don't give us enough information at the same time.

For me Revolutions has better pacing in that I am never bored. The exposition is to the point mostly and the action scenes generally don't go on too long. I think the Wachowski's listened to the Reloaded criticism as much as they could in the 6 month time span.

Another problem with the sequels is though I don't think Smith was ever supposed to be as important as they made him. But they just had to get Hugo Weaving into the sequels somehow.

I didn't like them bringing Trinity back to life, it had already been a good death scene and far better than the one in Revolutions. The end is the only part I don't love about Reloaded. Otherwise this trilogy is amazing until that point for me but Revolutions is nowhere near Reloaded. The part I do like in Revolutions is the Merovingian.

Yes, killing Trinity to bring her back and then kill her again seriously destroyed the impact the second time around. Especially since her second death "speech" went on for 10 minutes lol

I hope someone will when this is released deepfake whole movie with short hair Neo.

Height, hair color, hair length, mustaches...

THAT's the stuff that matters. To hell with this writing compelling plots, exporing character and relationships or creating stories with compelling or engaging themes and plots.

Hair length is where it's at.

JFC.

I remember when I watched Revolutions in theaters there was more than one "finally" and laughter when Trinity shut up and died.

If they had kept her dead in Reloaded Smith could have tried to tempt Neo with her resurrection. Like the devil tempting Jesus in the desert. Promising to return Trinity to him if Neo would only let him take over the Matrix and the Machine City.

I don't care, I find her death scene in Revolutions heartbreaking. Keanu's cry when she goes always gets me. I like the symmetry of Trinity resurrects Neo, Neo resurrects Trinity, then they both die.

And then are both resurrected. *cue Don Davis brass*

Reloaded some really incredible action scenes. That whole highway scene alone is just spectacular.
I rewatched that whole scene so many times on my home cinema system at the time. Not quite as many as the original Matrix hotel lobby scene till the end with the helicopter though.

Agreed! It's crazy to think they actually constructed that whole highway.

Same, Revolutions the last like 20 mins Trinity dying followed by Neo fighting on and then dying himself gets me every time.

It's why I am so curious about how they are brought back in Resurrections, and why.

So we have scenes that look almost 100% the same like the previous films, but i hope it doesnt feel like a remake.

This film really needs something new/fresh to be a sequel that was worth making.
