I am happy you seem to be enjoying classic Squad. You have a take on the differences between 80's and 90's Squad vs. more recent incarnations?

I like the more real-world political stuff from volume one.

Flag and Waller were my favorites in that book. New 52's, I like the artwork a bit better, and the body horror thing going on with the first volume. The narrative for the New 52 one seemed tighter, more cohesive. In the classic, there was the one story where Darkseid was after Godfrey, but I'm not sure if that's going to have more bearing on the rest of this series or if it was done for another comic's storyline.

The stuff with Darkseid comes up again later in the series with the Squad and Waller in Apokolips.

Just about every storyline from AFFC/ADWD that I really enjoyed has either been cut entirely, condensed to the point of absurdity or outright warped into something unrecognisable. Really, if it wasn't for the fact that they're introducing Euron in season 6, I'd probably have dropped the show completely.
