Except these aren't fans, they're critics. They always see movies in advance. I mean, blog critics, but still. Not quite the same situation as...that other movie.

I think it's safe to say that by this point a lot of critics are fans of Marvel studios film's. They may very well be inflating their opinion due to the buzz and hype that surrounds early MCU screenings. I think it'd be best to at least wait for them to come down from the high before we start putting any stock in their reviews of the film.

And I've little doubt that they will praise Civil War even more than it might deserve because it will act like a tonic after BvS. It's like when a person is dying of thirst and they get some water. That water tastes like the best water ever whether it's out of a gutter or out of a bottle. Except in this case critics are apparently dying from lack of fun after BvS raped their fun-o-meters. So if it's a competently made enjoyable safe comic book film many will probably act like it's the second coming.

Very possible, OR it could actually be a great movie. Seems odd to start coming up with excuses for good reviews this early in the game when the content of those reviews and reasoning behind them isn't even known yet. Though I imagine we'll see a lot of that in the coming weeks, regardless.

Some of the reactions towards Zemo haven't been encouraging. That's gonna hurt my enjoyment of the thing if it's accurate, as he's my favourite Cap villain.

Yeah. I've been prepared for that for a while, though, considering he's been completely absent from ALL promo material. It's honestly seemed like he's not even in the film at all. But it's Marvel - villains aren't their bag.

I don't think it's a bad thing to wait and see rather than putting faith in hyperbolic early screening tweet reactions. And I don't think it's a stretch to think critics will be especially happy with Civil War after BvS.

I swear... It's like social media was created JUST to vex me. I honestly cannot make heads or tails of facebook, it's controls, or frankly, what it's used for in the least. I can't even get to using it's messenger feature without going into a rage. It's a short hand language at this point that seems designed to go over my head. If I wanted to send a message to a whole group I would do that. I just want to send a message to one person. This **** is so infuriating and what makes it worse is having the whole world tell you that it's important for some reason.

At times I think maybe they should hold back on using their big villains and go the way of Alexander Pierce and basically create original villains from really minor and obscure characters from their library of characters. At least until they decide to better fashion films around the bigger villains.

I never said there was. Your previous just seemed to suggest that the film probably doesn't deserve it, which seems way too early to call.

That seems like a reasonable approach to me. Though honestly, with a few exceptions, most Marvel rogues pale in comparison to DC rogues, imo. I feel like Marvel doesn't focus on them in the movies because they know they're not the draw like they are with DC.

A pox on all technology... Sometimes I worry that my iPad is nothing but an expensive paperweight that occasionally I use for porn but that's it. Why are the supposedly most simple tasks so mind numbingly complex online?

Kryptons been drinking from the punch bowl

Agreed. The MCU has been good for the most part, but I have to admit, Age of Ultron kinda lessened my enthusiasm a tad, even though it's not a bad movie per se. Maybe I'm used to the shtick? I don't know. But anyway, I hope Civil War delivers, but I'm not surprised it'll be a critic darling. I'll make my own mind up regardless.

Circle K gas station used to have the best hot dogs somehow :funny: I haven't seen a Circle K in years though.

Move to Arizona, they have a ton of Circle K's down there.

I want to try one of those, but I think it will be horrible and I will need laxatives.

I'd rather have one from Sonic's Drive In or homemade.

The hell we talkin' about? Gyros? Shawarma? Tacos?
What nonsense is this?

Hey, Toxin's back!!! :woot:

The added irony being that you have an actual paperweight, that you use for porn on a more frequent basis. Seriously, that petrified wood carving has paid for itself ten times over.

Killian was the exception for me. Ronan almost got there - I think he should've turned that planet where they had the endgame dogfight to ashes to drive him the threat he posed.

Ronan was pretty basic when you look at how complex his comic counterpart is.

I use mine to surf when I watch tv. My ADD is getting worse the older I get. :p

I couldn't live without my iPad. I use it all day.

I'm not familiar with Marvel's comics (outside their Dark Tower stuff, though its been a good five years or so since I picked up any of it), but I'm not surprised to hear it. I'll be starting with the Immortal Ironfist.

Marvel can't really seem to do any villain justice whose name isn't Loki, and that's also because he has been in 3 movies now.

Now Marvel has access to Spidey who has the second best rogues gallery in all of comics. They better not screw this up.

Second to the Flash, or Superman.

No, not second to Batman, that guy's rogue's are a bunch of psychos with an endless loop of their motif:
Joker is the kind that "I had roasted potato on my dinner, I didn't like it, so I killed the chef. AAHHAAAHAAHHAAHHAHHAAAAA"
Two-Face is always "The coin is Justice"
Mad Hatter: "I like hats, you are my slaves wearing these hats I like"
Poison Ivy: "My plants, my plants"
Riddler (my favorite of this bunch): "You are dumb, I am you intellectual superior. Die, don't cheat."
Harley Quinn: "Mr. J, Mr. J, please don't punish me, wuv me." and "Oh hey red, we best buds? I know we are."

Interesting? Yeah, when the story breaks the mold or uses it properly without giving us an overdose, but overrated.

Probably the best ones are Bane Ra's AlGhul, Deadshot, followed by -maybe- Catman.
