I actually just got my hands on the GOT season 5 DVDs. Couldn't finish episode one because of a phone call but I at least have something to waste time with in an enjoyable way for the next few days.

There's a bit between Aemon and Jon and then the Weirdwood tree was pretty ****ing great to see in live action

They took my two favorite books in the series and decided to use wikipedia for a plot outline. Rather than read the books.

It's apparent in Season 5 that they're tired of making the show, and as such they aren't taking the time and care to adapt the novels that was done in the first few seasons. Plus it's become apparent that without the skeleton of GRRM's story to rely on...they're not especially good writers. Some of the scenes in the last few episodes are so damned stupid and nonsensical that it's almost satirical.

Well that's the problem, if you can do you your own thing without relying on the books then that's fine. They've admitted that they're going their own way with a lot of it from here on out. But what they're creating to replace book material...well it's just bad. The wrapped up one major story in an incredibly sloppy and disrespectful way, and when they went to introduce a brand new storyline (Dorne) it was amazingly bad in nearly every aspect.
