I think my last favorite Chicken sandwich was the GRILLED KFC with the side of steak fries YEARS ago

So as expected the first Gods of Egypt reviews are pretty toxic, and naturally take issue with the whitewashing (That's natuarally fair)... however.... I'm left wondering why these same people loved Edge of Tomorrow, a movie that whitewashed a film that was 90% Japanese characters?

Probably because the movie wasn't about Asian characters.

Even among fans ALL YOU NEED IS KILL wasn't that well known I suppose.

That's a good point. But you can say the same for Ghost in the Shell which is getting grief for the same reasons.
Yeah, I think that has more to do with the level of popularity of Ghost in the Shell vs. All You Need is Kill. I think there's only a small fraction of people who saw EoT who even knew it was an adaptation. GitS, on the other hand, is one of the most popular anime franchises out there, so everyone's immediately aware of the whitewashing.

Fair enough, fair enough. Mind you I love EoT so much, but part of me day dreams about what the more accurate, violent version done by someone like Kim Jee Woon (Yes, I'm aware he's not Japanese) would've been like.

Does anyone know if Larry Hama is showing up at any upcoming conventions, or if he still show up at comic conventions for that matter?

Hey, it could still happen! EoT, as much as I adore it, wasn't successful (or faithful) enough to be "The Definitive, Untouchable Adaptation" so somebody else might take another crack at that story at some point.

Although, I can't imagine anyone ever topping Blunt's Rita Vrataski. If she was in Alien or Terminator, those franchises would've both ended at the first film lol.

Yeah Rita would be hard to top, no argument there.

I just saw the new Uncharted trailer. :wow: Is it April yet?

Anyone here who worked or works in fast food, what did you guys do when there was no customers and you finished cleaning?

Looks like we'll be watching Bloodline for the TV club in March. It was one of my picks when we were putting the list together, but now I'm not even in the mood for it, lol. Oh well, I've heard it's good. And at least it's only one season. I don't think I'll be making it past S2 of Sliders this month.

I had no idea that Edge of Tomorrow was based on an anime. In that sense I am a little annoyed by the fact that it is whitewashed, but as FlickChicka mentioned it wasn't about any East Asian characters. So it isn't so bad. Gods of Egypt can eat **** and die though. There are tons of Middle Eastern and black actors and actresses that could have been in that movie besides Coolwick Boseman. I hate the SJW argument of THE CURRENT YEAR, but there really is no excuse for it when there are several names that could sell. You have the "it wouldn't sell with minority characters" argument that might make sense on some level, but it's not like they have much big named actors in the movie in the first place. There is Gerard Butler and Geoffrey Rush, but there are plenty of black names that could sell just as well as them. I can't think of any Middle Eastern named stars, but they could have at least tried.

As for Ghost in the Shell I think it all depends on where it's set. If it's set in America then it makes sense, but if it's all Japanese without any Japanese actors and actresses then it's a shame. Of course my biggest worry is that they won't respect the source material. Hollywood has a problem with that besides comic book movies, and that was a huge problem with superheroes before we got to this era. I don't think that Ghost in the Shell is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the concepts are too good to just wing it and make some Ultraviolet level ****.

I remember his name popping up maybe a year ago. Not even at a convention either, just a store signing.

BTW Duke, check out what I received in the mail today in the inner fanboy thread.

Instead of getting on a forum and complaining about not knowing how to use the register... maybe you can take all that free time and learn it. :sly:

I don't care what race they play it, but Michael "I'm going to feed you to my pigs" Pitt playing the Laughing Man sounds like sex on the beach.

Made sure I didn't miss anything to clean and get ready for the people who were taking over after I left or closed for the night.

I usually worked kitchen so when there was nothing to do I usually tidied up in the back until I heard the beep to get me back up front.

Celine is back in Las Vegas:

I worked in McDonald's for about a year when I was 17. We just ate but I was on the night shift so it's not as though it was busy. :sly:

That's awesome Pinky!!! You got Flint's daughter!!! :cwink:

Went to the doctor today and had a cholesterol test done. I thought my colonial life benefits only paid out $150 for that and instead they're sending me a check for $250. That's pretty dope.

Did he tell you that were you 2 months pregnant?
