The Mighty No. 9 Thread

They already had an offer from a developer to port this to the 3DS, so I think a handheld stretch goal as one of the ????? ones is plausible.

Until future notice I'm viewing it as a prequel to MM.

Seriously, though, can't wait. The man's a genius.

I don't particularly understand why the console goal is so far down the list. Is porting over a title like this really that expensive and difficult?

Stretch goals are nothing more than a carrot on a string to get more backers. It's far down on the list so more people back the project and donate more.

I'd donate, but I've become skeptical of Kickstarter. Their goal for this is so high that I think they're trying to use the majority of it as their budget for a game and the date of April 2015 is too far away for me.

This is easily one of my most anticipated game of next year

It's not coming out next year.

It's at a little over 1.8 million now, so Turbo Mode & New Game Plus made it. At this rate, they're going to make enough to fund the sequel.

Damn, that was fast. I'm looking forward to it. I hope it comes to consoles.

The project reached 1.9 million earlier and they have updated the stretch goals

Biggest one is probably the 3.3 million goal for PS4 and XB1, which may be reached with the last day bump many gaming kickstarters get. The pace has been quite slow for the last couple of days, but looks like it is well on its way on meeting the current gen consoles.

They mention in the update that Vita and 3DS ports may still be possible and are being discussed.

It's not at all unusual for Kickstarters to hit a slump in the middle. Typically they make most of their money in the first week, then it slows down to a trickle, and then at the end it gets a big boost.

Shouldn't the PC extra gaming content come before ports and documentaries.
Why does this deserve a documentary?

This sounds more like a scam then a honest asking for help with funding :(

Why does anything game related deserve a documentary? That's kind of a bizarre question to ask?

And, for the most part, the extra PC material was above the consoles. The console port stretch goal was moved up due to a lot of request, because no surprise, a lot of the potential audience for the game is probably interested more in a console edition than a PC one. A lot of this newer stuff (like challenge mode), was just recently added, so it's not like they're going to reshuffle it again.

It's not a scam, that's silly. This is from a well respected developer and legitimate new company.

Plus it doesn't cost much to make a documentary. It would make no sense to place actual development costs below it. They have a set goal which they know they need to meet in order to make this thing happen. Anything in between is extra and for our benefit

The game looks interesting and fun and all. I see that 6 people actually donated 10,000 dollars... like that just makes me feel poor :(

There are some truly starved and rich Mega Man fans around

Hmm that maybe why Capcom will be pulled off their evil plan of Dlc over charging now. Cause they are thinking this. The reason I said this is in the gaming lounge. They always pick up the wrong message from events like this.

I do think we'll see the return of Mega Man someday, just not anytime soon. It'll probably be when Capcom has an entirely new management and some type of actual vision about where to take the franchise.

Anyway, this has just cleared the 2 million mark, so Boss Rush Mode is in. The first console goal is a sure go, now.

On Ask Capcom they've been promising for about a year now that they're going to do "something" with Mega Man, and that there are a lot of ongoing internal conversations about how to proceed. I'm not sure if I believe it though.

I also doubt that Mighty No. 9 will convince them to do anything with Mega Man. If anything it might even have the opposite effect. Two million is pocket change in the AAA game publishing business. It's like spotting a nickel on the sidewalk. Yeah, if you pick it up you'll be five cents richer, but is five cents even worth the effort of stopping and bending over to pick up?

The 2.2 million mark just got reached: The game will come to PS3/360/Wii U
