Thomas Jane in The Mist?
Posted: October 12, 2006, 23:40:57 | Section: Film » The Mist

Is The Mist finally happening?

In a movie round-up article at MTV, Thomas Jane (Dreamcatcher) says, "Frank Darabont and I are supposed to be doing Stephen King's The Mist."

No schedule or anything, but it's the first indication that someone beyond Darabont is attached to the project.

Cool. I hope they make this. The Mist was the first SK story I ever read. It's what got me hooked on King.:yay:

Prepare For The Mist
Start date, FX team set for Darabont's next.

January 3, 2007 - The Mist is rolling in. Writer-director Frank Darabont's adaptation of the Stephen King tale is reportedly slated to commence filming February 20 for a tentative November 21 release.

The film, which will star Thomas Jane, is also lining up some behind-the-scenes talent. Fangoria.com reports that "famed monster house KNB EFX is on board to handle all of the creaturefest's practical FX, with the company's Greg Nicotero also serving as the film's 2nd-unit director."

The site adds that Café FX and supervisor Everett Burrell will handle the CGI effects. The effects house has also worked on Pan's Labyrinth and Sin City

Years ago, when I read The Mist for the first time, I thought "Now that could be a damned cool movie."

And now, not only is it happening, but Tom Jane is in it which ups the awesomeness by 100000000%.

I am happy. I wonder if they will change the ending?

I hope this happens. I don't think Darabont will change the ending.

I just realized that he did Green Mile and Shawshank. :wow:

I'd like The Long Walk after this please.

Braugher and Holden Enter The Mist
Source: The Hollywood Reporter January 26, 2007

Andre Braugher and Laurie Holden are joining Thomas Jane in The Mist, Dimension Films' adaptation of the Stephen King story being directed by Frank Darabont, who also produces.

The script, written by Darabont, is set after a strange storm blows through a Maine town and its citizens are attacked by deadly creatures. A group of townfolks barricade themselves in a supermarket and struggle for survival.

"(Holden) was my leading lady in 'The Majestic,' and she is stupendous, talented and gorgeous," Darabont told The Hollywood Reporter. "She plays a very key role as one the people trapped in this existential Stephen King nightmare. On the good side of the aisle, she is the female lead of the movie."

"(Braugher) is Thomas Jane's neighbor, a high-powered attorney who has a weekend house in Maine. They have more of an adversarial relationship," Darabont added.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in mid- to late February in Shreveport, La.

Is this actually a movie in the theaters or straight for the DVD? Like those cable HBO movies?

What is The Mist about, and do you think we will see it in theaters this year?

It will (hopefully) be released in theaters in November. As for the story, here's a short summary:

Published in 1985 as part of Stephen King's short story collection "Skeleton Crew," "The Mist" takes place in a small town where a thick mist engulfs the area, killing those caught in its darkness. Terrified survivors seek refuge in a supermarket, while a swarm of murderous critters tries to get in

Hmmm, sounds a lot like that movie where a fog engulfs a town and out of the fog step these evil zombie fishermen and the town can't escape the fog.....I think it was called, "Invasion of the Evil Zombie Fishermen."

I liked the story,it would be an intresting film.
I don't know if I even have it anymore. :(

More The Mist casting
Posted: February 5, 2007, 11:16:50 | Section: Film » The Mist

In an interview I have done with Frank Darabont he reveals that Frances Sternhagen (Misery), Alexa Davalos, Sam Witwer, Bill Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile), Jeff DeMunn (The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile) and Brian Libby (the prisoner in The Woman in the Room) will join Thomas Jane, Andre Braugher and Laurie Holden in The Mist. The full interview will be online tomorrow.

I thought this was for Myst the video game. Now that would be cool!

This.WILL.Be.Awesome!

Lilja: The next one is The Long Walk. I just hear that you have option the film rights for it. How do you plan on realizing it? Some might say that it’s just a bunch of kids walking and impossible to turn into a movie…

Frank Darabont: It is just a bunch of kids walking. And talking. And getting shot. That's why I love it. It's a very intense ensemble character piece, another one of those "people in a contained pressure-cooker situation" stories that Steve does so well and seems to specialize in.

:eek::eek::eek:

*faints*
