Action-Adventure The NCIS Thread - Part 2

So I'm lost, who is this White Ghost guy that Kensi is going out of her way to not shoot and now meet up with in a cave?

Edit* Just did a quick search and apparently it's [BLACKOUT]her ex fiance Jack[/BLACKOUT]...ugh.

I figured he had to be something like that or [blackout]her brother[/blackout] who may or may not have been mentioned before. I can't remember.

I hope it is [BLACKOUT]her brother[/BLACKOUT], the other option is just a pointless case of sticking another obstacle between her and Deeks.

last night's NCIS was the backdoor pilot episode for NCIS: New Orleans with Scott Bakula and Lucas Black. Black's southern accent is natural. The guy is from Bama and they used that bit in his character's bio. Bakula's southern accent wasn't very convincing. I would have liked it if they kept it a two man investigation team with CCH Pounder as their "Ducky."

I like the NOLA setting and the case linking back to Gibbs past as a Probie is one of the better ones this season, not sure I can see Bakula and the block of wood from Tokyo Drift catching on as a spin-off though.

Decent case in LA this week with a bit of a Mission Impossible type sequence and Nell being awesome! :D I get the feeling Kensi's former fiance is playing her.

LA was great this week, really interesting to see Deeks conflict when it came to torturing the cleric for info on where Kensi was. I also think the ending is the most vulnerable we've ever seen Kensi, I wonder what happened in those 3 days.

Hetty has a lot to answer for, she put all the team in danger to save one guy and never even clued them in.

LA was the better of the two. Whatever happened to Kensi was brutal. She and Deeks are going to be tighter than ever I think.

NCIS was okay, but it was the backdoor pilot to NCIS: New Orleans and it showed. Not as bad as some backdoor pilots but the heavier focus on Sam, Archer Pride ("King") and his group showed through. I know they had to retroactively insert him as knowing Gibbs and Fornell but suddenly they are these legends around the NCIS office? We'd never heard the name King or Pride before last week.

I'm sure it'll get some retooling and fixes once they premiere the new series but it felt mildly distracting.

It's going to be interesting to see how things play out with Kensi and Deeks, I get the feeling we probably haven't seen the last of Jack and she has never been vulnerable before, even when she was on the run.

It was a shame that the "Fed Five" idea was so undercooked, it had the potential to be a really cool story that played across several episodes and dug into Gibbs past, but it was just used as a rushed backdrop to introduce the NOLA team.

Do you think it will make it to series? I can see the idea going the same way as the Red spin-off the tried for as none of the NOLA characters bar the ME were really all that good IMO.

From the reports I have read the producers seem to think that New Orleans is a more solid concept and it will take the traveling aspect of Red by moving around the Gulf Coast area while still having a home base approach nestled in New Orleans.

I think it will actually make it to a series but I don't know if it will last. Scott Bakula, try as he might, is not had great success since his Quantum Leap days. Looking through his past credits, outside of Enterprise he hasn't had anything last more than 22 episodes and that was Men of a Certain Age which barely made two seasons.

It's too bad, I like the guy but he's just not enough to keep most shows going as a leading man. Maybe the NCIS name will be enough this time.

^^^ I think they are going to need to tweak the cast, Bakula is less dour than Gibbs but seems like he's trying to act too young for his age, however he can alter that, but the block of wood from Fast & Furious: TD is a dud and the girl is really bland as well.

If Lucas Black's movie career heats up again with the Fast movies then he'll be splitting time between a television and movie career. That might be a lot for him to manage. Originally he was going to have a more active role in the Fast franchise going forward but with Paul Walker's death I don't know what they plan to do now.

And the girl is kind of boring. If she stays on then I hope she is part of their retooling process. And give them more agents.

I see Michelle Borth is leaving Hawaii Five-0, she'd be a great addition to the NCIS: NOLA cast.

They can definitely use more than three agents so she'd be a good fit.

since Neal from Once Upon... is dead. They can bring that dude over to NOLA. Loved his Cajun accent in True Blood.

I am finally catching up on the last few episodes. I hadn't heard of the latest spin off, but I like all the actors involved. Bakula's accent is horrible, but you can tell Black's is genuine. I will be watching this. When does it start?

Haha....you got a hate on for Tokyo Drift. It ain't that bad, Hunter.

If the spin off goes forward I think it will be this fall.

As to the last episode of NCIS, I was hoping Delilah would stick around more. I liked her but it looks like she's being shipped off to the Middle East. At least she and Tim are still a couple so she may turn up again in future episodes.

And on Los Angeles I see they skipped ahead a few months to let Kensi recover from her time in Afganistan. Although they put Nell in her place for Deeks' partner. I like seeing her in the field but she's right, it's better she gets to be without having to replace someone else like that.

I was digging Delilah as well, I don't know why they are writing her out when she was just becoming more involved and by proxy giving McGee more scope. I guessed it was the guys daughter that was up to no good.

I love Nell, her talking smack to Lil' Dip was great. :D I wonder how far they will go with her in the field, I mean she made a clear point to want it this week where before it's been a needs must thing.

Haha....you got a hate on for Tokyo Drift. It ain't that bad, Hunter.

I don't hate Tokyo Drift completely, I just think Lucas Black is a wooden actor. ;)

Considering he will be in the new spin off, why do you think that? Tokyo Drift aside he wasn't that bad in the episodes that aired. He's come a long way since then. You still think him wooden?

Being in an NCIS spin-off isn't indicative of acting quality IMO. Yes, I honestly think he comes off like he's reading his lines as opposed to saying them naturally, takes me out of any scene he's in.

Heehe....I mentioned him being in the spin off so it was evident we are on topic and not just talking about F&F. My bad...

Hmmm....it's weird because I kind of interpret his quality as a stoic and southern. That's been a big part of his draw so far, and in my opinion if he seems wooden it's because he is fitting that stereotype. I don't think he's a wooden actor...per se. He has never seemed like he was just reading him lines to me.

LA was good this week, although did Kensi and Deeks just go back to the friend zone? The case was intriguingly played out and Paul Angelo is an interesting character with potential to be a recurring figure in the show.

I have no idea what the hell happened with Deeks and Kensi there...

awww deeks and kensi, the way it played out it looked like for a moment they would put their relationship on hold, but when hetty said,"end of the beginning" i took it as them taking their relationship to the next level.

The annoying thing about Deeks and Kensi is how much they danced around openly stating anything. I realize they're at the office, they don't know what to call it, etc but they've had months of being in this whatever zone to figure it out (Kensi was at the least recovering from Afganistan for several months as they stated, on top of however long their thing has been going on).

I don't think their relationship is over but there was some kind of decsion on it made. Deeks appeared to break it off but then mentioned raccoons mating for life implying it was still on. There was nothing definite said.

The box within a box is obviously symbolic to something. Kensi opened that box for Deeks to find another... and maybe another in there when he opens it. Like Russian nested dolls. What is at the center of it? I'd find it fitting if there was an engagement ring or something to that effect.

As Deeks goes deeper into these boxes, he becomes closer to Kensi. It makes sense when associated with the three hearts theme of the episode.

^^^ I was wondering about the box thing myself, it'll be interesting to see if they continue to bring it back. I think Clu makes a god point about Hetty's line as well, but the whole scene was just a bit cryptic given this is not a show that can focus so heavily on one relationship as to decrypt the stuff said lol.

The show should go bold with them IMO and see where that goes.
