*cough*Sunspot*cough*cough*

Actually, if you have the Hellions: Sunspot and Warpath, done. I'd like a recast on both, though. I'm 50/50 on Blink (I'd prefer Magik, who has similar abilities) and I'd say no to Bishop.

question is would they be recast as being born younger-see angel, jubilee, and
psylock in apocalypse or will DOFP actors return in supporting roles.

Omar Sy and Fan Bingbing shouldn't be replaced... especially they are big draws in their respective countries and Omar Sy is appearing in a lot of Hollywood films lately like Jurassic World. While Booboo Stewart is young and looks really young. Also DOFP is just too recent compare to X3/X2.

I don't mind Bishop and Blink as teacher or mentors. And yes, same actors, please.

But I wanted the 80's team first. Magik, Sunspot, Cannonball, Karma, Wolfsbane, Dani, maybe Doug, Magma and Warlock. Then a different team in a second movie, while some characters like Sunspot, Cannonball and Wolfsbane could be joining other teams like X-Force and X-Factor.

Wasn't there a rumor that said that Boone is gonna focus on the 80s team first?

I don't think there's a need to recast any of the DOFP crew tbh, particularly Omar and Fan. Of course, I don't think they're gonna be the ones in New Mutants, because it's probably gonna be Sunspot and or Warpath (if he isn't in an X-Force adaptation)

So what's the word on what the team will be? Something like first class where the roster is completely different?

Josh Boone posted on instagram a few days ago him and his team have started writing Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles. When asked about new mutants he commented that it's a couple years until they work on New Mutants, so it looks like 2018 is the likely release of this.

What are some of Boone's best films? I'd like to get a little taste of New Mutants :)

He's only done two films thus far, Stuck in Love and The Fault in Our Stars. So it's probably easy to check out both, but his best work thus far is The Fault in Our Stars.

I know this is years away, but I just wanna discuss it. What are you all expecting from this? What direction would you like them to go in? Who should get the most focus?

I really want it to have a horror vibe, like the early reports have suggested. I personally want to see Magik and Limbo. Magik has become one of my favourite characters in the last couple of years and Limbo is different from anything we've seen in a comic book movie. Using Magik also allows for a potentially small role for Colossus.

I really want to see Dani Moonstar as well. Her powers are perfect for the horror vibe. Her inability to control her powers creates really interesting character opportunities. She doesn't mean to expose her friends' greatest fears, but people don't exactly like her for it either. And Demon Bear could work.

Rahne would be interesting to develop as well since she has the whole Presbyterian angle. She actually considers herself to be demonic and going to hell because she's a mutant. She has a lot of guilt and fear over things she can't control, and yet in the early New Mutant comics she was extremely endearing.

Karma possesses people, so again she adds to the horror vibe. She has the best type of mutation: one that says something about her character. She has no control over her life but has ultimate control over others.

I also really want to see Sunspot. It would be really cool if Brazil was a location in one of the movies. His father is a member of the Hellfire Club in the comics. I don't think the movie-verse Hellfire Club should to end with Shaw. Roberto provides an opportunity to keep that mythos alive. I would recast the character and change the special effects.

So, personally, I think Magik, Dani, Karma, and Sunspot are essential team members. You can throw in Cannonball as well.

I want Dani Moonstar to lead, but realistically Cannonball should be the de facto lead (sorry if it's whitewashing but the character seems like he fits in that Cyclops, Captain America leader mold to me).

Karma can still be the oldest as its part of her character. Magik and Sunspot round it off for me. Them 5 are essential, then you can throw in Doug Ramsey, Magma or Warpath, whatever would best fit the story.

I'd prefer it if they set this in the present/future, but if it's in the past, then let Magneto head up the group. Xavier has his young X-Men and Magneto has his New Mutants.

I don't see it being mcavoys xavier since you need to separate new mutants from an original team movie somehow and having him teach in both sets of movies seems abit much

odds are it would be Mcavoy's xavier teaching new mutants.

And where would his young X-Men be when he's teaching the New Mutants? I can't see him teaching both teams.

I was surprised when I heard about the supernatural tone. Pleasantly surprised. I thought they would use New Mutants to make something more light and fun. Something to appeal the kids. But I love this idea of a supernatural tone.

I'd also like to see the 80's team: Dani, Karma, Sam, Illyana, Sunspot and Rahne. Cypher and Warlock are not necessary. And I'd love to see Fassbender's Magneto here too.

I really dislike Warlock. I hope they keep him away from movies for forever.
I want Dani Moonstar to lead, but realistically Cannonball should be the de facto lead (sorry if it's whitewashing but the character seems like he fits in that Cyclops, Captain America leader mold to me).
Well from the source material he really wasn't leadership material. He was clumsy and lacked confidence. His best qualification for leader is that he's white :o Eventually he was trained by Cable, but even in the most recent relaunch he co-lead with Dani before she lead completely.

I'd rather have Dani lead too. Switch things up with having a woman lead since Storm really wasn't a prominent leader with Cyclops/Logan around and probably won't be unless we get the whole split squad kinda stuff.

Exactly.

And if they are going for a supernatural tone, Cannonball and his powers don't really contribute much.

Cannonball is more of the aw shucks southern dude. He could lead if need be, but it's not his forte.

Cannonballs shouldn't be the lead.

Yea - it needs to be Moonstar, Magik or Karma as the leader.

Posted it in the Apoc thread since we were discussing Boone but his The Stand project has seemingly expanded to a film and an 8-part miniseries. More than the 6 that was initially reported way back.

This seems pretty massive and ambitious, and if he knocks it out of the park with this, expectations for New Mutants could be really high. Not to mention he'll be dabbling in plenty of horror befor he gets to New Mutants.
